Mr. Campbell stated that he would attend to this. Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos read a letter from California Congressman George Brown, who is requesting that the Justice Department reopen its suit against four Detroit automobile manufacturers charged with conspiracy to avoid compliance with anti-smog legislation. Congressman Brown asked support from the City Council in this matter. It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Re- solution No. 69-230, memorialization of the United States Justice Department with respect to pending anti-trust suit against automobile manufacturers in connection with smog-control, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows i AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos NOES: None ABSENT: Mayor Gerton Councilman Rega suggested that Congressman Brown also be sent a copy of Sun- day's Independent which printed an editorial on the Valley smog problem. EXECUTIVE SESSION-CONSIDERATION OF APPOINrMEN~S TO BO\RDS AND COMMISSIONS Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos recessed the meeting at 10:45 P.M., to an Executive Session. Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos reconvened the meeting at 11:00 P.M. It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Rega that Resolu- tion No. 69-231, joining with Mackay Homes, Inc.. in their demand upon Silva's Pipelines, Inc., the contractor, and the contractor's bonding company, regarding the repair of work not in conformance with the specifications on the Black Avenue Diversion Sewer Project, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos NOES: None ABSENT: Mayor Garton ADJOURNMENT There being no further business at 11:02 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in Adjourned Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on October 6. 1969.
