The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton NOES: None ABSENT: None Matters for the Information of the Council Mr. Edgar called the Council's attention to the holiday falling on September 1, 1969, and also that the Council meeting of September 29th, fell during the League of California Cities Conference. Proposed Order reRardinR underRround utilities Mr. John Stanley, PG&E representativet explained that the application of Rule No. 20 is adequate and recommended that the City Council oppose any other action that would result in a 50% rate increase for underground utilities. It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 69-199, authorizing the City staff to write to PUC and advise them that the application of Rule No. 20 is adequate and the City of pleasanton opposes any action that would cause a rate increase, be adopted. COMMUNICATIONS From Pleasanton GarbaRe Service Re: ReQuest for rate increase The staff was instructed to study and prepare a report for City Council review. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS Councilman Beratlis requested that the Chief of Police be present at the Council meeting of August 25th, in order to discuss downtown parking problems. Councilman Reid requested that an Executive Session be held before adjournment. Mayor Gerton requested permission to be absent from the City for a month in order to visit Europe. It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that Mayor Gerton be granted permission to be absent from four City Council meetings in order to vacation in Europe. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Regs, Reid and Spiliotopoulos NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: Mayor Gerton MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC No one addressed the Chair. Mayor Gerton recessed the meeting at 11:35 P.M. to an Executive Session. Mayor Gerton reconvened the meeting at 11:50 P.M. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business at 11:52 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilmon Reid that the meeting be adjourned to meet ogoin in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on August 25, 1969.
