Matters for the Information of the..Coun~il <br /> Mr. Fales stated that the Minutes of the regular meeting of Zone No. 7, held <br />on May 21, 1969, have been forwarded to the City Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales stated that a copy of the July lOth issue of the San Francisco Bay <br />Guardian which has an article relating to the Pleasanton Housing Authority has <br />also been forwarded to the Council for their information. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales stated that copies of the agenda of the V.C.E.O.O. Board of Directors <br />meeting for July 16th, 1969, have also been forwarded to the Councilmen. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales reported that he had received a letter from Mr. William Parness, City <br />Manager of Livermore, which stated that the contract has been awarded for traffic <br />lights to be installed at the Stanley and Mu~ietta Boulevards intersection but <br />construction will not commence for six months. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales reported that in answer to Mrs. Maureen Baer's letter, Mr. Campbell <br />had surveyed the hazardous traffic area long Pico Avenue and recommended that a <br />chain and shrubs will be placed on the east side and the property owner on the <br />west side has agreed to let his hill be cut, thus closing the bicycle paths open- <br />ing on Pico Avenue from the Kottinger Park. <br /> The Councilmen instructed Mr. Campbell to proceed with these recommendations <br />and to advise Mrs. Baer of the action taken. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports from the City Attorney. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no communications read at this meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br /> Councilman Reid asked Mr. Campbell to review the visibility at the First Street <br />and Kottinger Avenue intersection of the west bound motorist. Councilman Reid <br />stated that when cars are parked on First Street in front of the house on the <br />southeast corner, it is almost impossible to see north bound traffic on First <br />Street. Mr. Campbell replied that he is aware of this situation and will report <br />on this which will include recommendations to correct this problem. <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid also requested that the problem of illegal parking in drive- <br />ways on Harrison Street during the fair be brought to the attention of the Fair <br />Liaison Committee. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gerton initiated discussion on an article appearing in the Nevada State <br />Journal, dated July 7, 1969, regarding the levying of taxes on churches, fraternal <br />organizations and charitable institutions. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Victor Bailey, 4565 Black Avenue, asked if the left turn lanes from Hopyard <br />Road could be checked by Mr. Campbell. Mr. Campbell replied that he would visit <br />these sites and report on this. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: PENDING LITIGATION <br /> <br />Mayor Getton adjourned the meeting to an Executive Session for the purpose of <br />discussing pending litigation at 9:35 P.M. <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton reconvened the meeting at 9:55 P.M., whereupon Resolution No. 69-171, <br />was moved by Councilman Beratlis, seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos. Resolu- <br />tion No. 69-171 approves the purchase of City and County of San Francisco property <br />relating to the Bernal Avenue Realignment and the Civic Center site. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br />
