Discussion with Representatives from the Odd-Fellows Cemetery Re: Recent Citizen <br /> ~omDlaints <br /> Mr. James Carskaddon, representing the Odd-Fellows Cemetery Board, stated that <br /> Mr. Critchfield, their attorney, was unable to be present at this meeting. <br /> Mayor Getton presented several of the complaints he had received from citizens <br /> regarding the head stones being removed without their knowledge or consent. Mr. <br /> Carskaddon stated that any placing of head stones in the cemetery would have to <br />.... be discussed with and approved by the Cemetery Board and that the citizens in <br /> question were aware of this. <br /> Mr. Carskaddon also objected to the fact that there had been no publicity <br /> in the papers about the improvements at the cemetery grounds. <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he felt this was a matter of poor com- <br /> munications and the Odd-Fellows should be commended on their accomplishments on <br /> the cemetery grounds. <br /> Mr. Carskaddon suggested that a joint meeting between the City Council and <br /> the Cemetery Board of Directors be held in order to discuss the complaints of the <br /> subject citizens. <br /> Mr. Fales was asked to contact Mr. Critchfield and schedule a Joint study <br /> session for this purpose. <br /> <br /> R~pORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> There were no reports of Boards and Commissions scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br /> REPORT~ OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> P~opoped A~r~e~ent with Alameda County Re: Animal Control Services <br /> Mr. Fales reviewed his report dated July 2, 1969, regarding the proposed <br /> agreement with Alameda County regarding Animal Control Services, which recommended <br /> approval of the agreement. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that <br /> Resolution No. 69-163, authorizing the execution of the agreement between the City <br /> of Pleasanton and Alameda County for Animal Control Services, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports from the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Petition from V.I.P. Bay Re: BCDC <br /> Mr. Fales indicated that the above communications were related to the Special <br /> Reports heard earlier in the meeting. Mr. Fales was instructed to acknowledge <br /> these communications. <br /> <br /> From Easter Seal Society Re: Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum <br /> Mr. Fales read the above letter and the attached proposed resolution and <br /> recommended that the Council support this endeavor. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br /> Resolution No. 69-164, endorsing the request of the physically handicapped for <br />I__ modification of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Complex, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Mayor Gerton reviewed the meeting he and Mr. Fales had .trended regarding a <br /> new HUD low cost housing program~ in Prototype Areas. Mayor Gerton stated that <br /> the Camp Parks area was one of eight such areas under consideration. He urged the <br /> Councilmen to review this concept as outlined in a brochure entitled "Breakthrough" <br /> and asked Mr. Fales to write a letter to Mr. Norman Finger to obtain additional <br /> information on this project regarding services to be provided and which of several <br /> possible agencies would have jurisdiction over this possible development- <br /> <br /> <br />
