MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Pleasanton, California <br /> July 7, 1969 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FlAG <br /> Mayor Bernard Gerton called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council <br /> to order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmen Beratlis, Rega. Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton were present. <br /> Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City <br /> Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of <br /> Planning, were present. <br /> <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> There were no agenda amendments. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved: <br /> <br /> 1. Waiving the reading of Ordinance No. 560, which imposes a tax upon the <br /> privilege of transient occupancy and providing for the collection thereof. <br /> <br /> 2. Adoption of Ordinance No. 560. <br /> <br />__ 3. Adopting Resolution No. 69-161, approving the specifications and calling for <br /> bids at 2:00 P.M., on July 28, 1969, for the construction of Tennis Courts <br /> at First and Abbie Streets. <br /> <br /> 4. Accepting the report of the Planning Commission regarding the proposed Mobile <br /> Home Park on Vineyard Avenue. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> Application of Larson-Gerton Realty to fezone from the C-F (~ommercial Freeway), <br /> District to the ~-S. (Commercial Service) District.that property.located on the <br /> west side of Santa Rita Road approx. 237 feet ngrtb of the Arroyo del Valle~ <br /> known a~pl~ san~ R!.t~ Road, and containing approx..63 acres <br /> Mayor Gerton turned the meeting over to Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos and then <br /> declared himself a private citizen and took a seat in the audience. <br /> Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos declared the public hearing open. <br /> Mr. Fales reviewed his report, dated July 3, 1969, on recent staff activities <br /> associated with this property. This report was in answer to the inquiries made by <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos regarding requests by other parties who allegedly <br /> applied for re-zoning on this particular parcel. <br /> Mr. Castro displayed maps of the parcel and reviewed the current zoning. Mr. <br /> Castro also pointed out the plan line of the Del Valle Parkway in relation to <br /> this property. <br /> Mr. Gerton emphasized the fact that there was little or no Service Commercial <br /> zoning and that there was a definite need for it as pointed out in the report of <br /> the Citizens Advisory Committee on the General Plan. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding the inflexibility of the Zoning Ordinance in the <br /> matter of non-conforming uses. Mr. Fales stated that the Planning Commission has <br /> scheduled a public hearing on August 4, 1969, regarding a modification to the <br /> Zoning Ordinance. <br /> There being no public protests to the application of Larsen-Gerton, it was <br /> moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that the public <br /> hearing be closed. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br /> <br />
