MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION Restriction of on-street Parkinn near the Fair~rounds during the Fair ?~r. Fales reviewed the report of the Associate Civil Engineer, dated June 26, 1970, which outlined the reasons for the proposal to elimin- ate on-street parking on Harrison, Augustine and West Angela Streets during the 1970 Alameda County Fair. Mr. Charles MCGREGOR, 4814 Harrison Street, requested permission to speak and being Kranted his request, stated his opposition to the eliminating of parkin~ on these streets because this restriction would not allow him to park his own car in front of his home. He also object- ed to this matter bein~ considered at this time rather' than several months ago. Mr~ Thurmond Clodale~ Augustine Street, objected to this parking restriction because his guests would not be able to park in front of his home. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Gerton that on-street parking be restricted on Harrison, Augustine and West Angela Streets during the 1970 Alameda County Fair. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, SDiliotopoulos and Hayor Reid NOES: None ABSENT: None SPECIAL REPORTS Report of the Community Concerns Committee Re: Youth Activities ~r. Brad Hirst, representing the Pleasanton Youth, Incorporated, requested that that organization be allowed to use aporoximately a half acre of Amador Valley Community Park for the purpose of ~onstruct- ing a Youth Building upon it. ~r. Hirst stated that all youth organ- izations in Pleasanton would be able to use this building~ He also explained how they planned to raise funds to pay for this buildin~. The City Council gave informal approval to Mr. Hirst's request and asked the City Attorney to review the legal procedures that would be necessary to use City property for this purpose. It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the request of ~r~ Brad Hirst regardin~ a Youth Center being constructed on a portion of the Amadro Valley Community Park be referred to the Recreation and Parks Commission for their review and reco~nendations. REPORTS OF THE CITY ~AN~GER Report Re: S6atus of Negotiations ~ith Pleasanton Fire Fighters, Local Union No. 1974' Mr. Fales reviewed his memorandum, dated June 26~ 197~, to ~r. Bonderud, president of Local 1974, International Association of Fire Fighters~ which reviewed the ~ast negotiations regarding salary and fringe benefits for the firemen. Mr. Fales further reported that this after- noon he had received a proposal from ~r. Bonderud to adopt a three year contract for the firemen and also include an additional 2 1/2 % 2. 6-29
