MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Restriction of on-street Parkinn near the Fair~rounds during the Fair <br /> <br />?~r. Fales reviewed the report of the Associate Civil Engineer, dated <br />June 26, 1970, which outlined the reasons for the proposal to elimin- <br />ate on-street parking on Harrison, Augustine and West Angela Streets <br />during the 1970 Alameda County Fair. <br /> <br />Mr. Charles MCGREGOR, 4814 Harrison Street, requested permission to <br />speak and being Kranted his request, stated his opposition to the <br />eliminating of parkin~ on these streets because this restriction would <br />not allow him to park his own car in front of his home. He also object- <br />ed to this matter bein~ considered at this time rather' than several <br />months ago. <br /> <br />Mr~ Thurmond Clodale~ Augustine Street, objected to this parking <br />restriction because his guests would not be able to park in front of <br />his home. <br /> <br />After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Beratlis <br />and seconded by Councilman Gerton that on-street parking be restricted <br />on Harrison, Augustine and West Angela Streets during the 1970 Alameda <br />County Fair. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, SDiliotopoulos and <br /> Hayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />Report of the Community Concerns Committee Re: Youth Activities <br /> <br />~r. Brad Hirst, representing the Pleasanton Youth, Incorporated, <br />requested that that organization be allowed to use aporoximately a <br />half acre of Amador Valley Community Park for the purpose of ~onstruct- <br />ing a Youth Building upon it. ~r. Hirst stated that all youth organ- <br />izations in Pleasanton would be able to use this building~ He also <br />explained how they planned to raise funds to pay for this buildin~. <br /> <br />The City Council gave informal approval to Mr. Hirst's request and <br />asked the City Attorney to review the legal procedures that would be <br />necessary to use City property for this purpose. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br />that the request of ~r~ Brad Hirst regardin~ a Youth Center being <br />constructed on a portion of the Amadro Valley Community Park be <br />referred to the Recreation and Parks Commission for their review and <br />reco~nendations. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spilioto~oulos and <br /> ~ayor Rei~ <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT~ None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF ~OARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br />There were no reports of Boards and Commissions other than those <br />accompanying items listed on the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ~AN~GER <br />Report Re: S6atus of Negotiations ~ith Pleasanton Fire Fighters, <br />Local Union No. 1974' <br /> <br />Mr. Fales reviewed his memorandum, dated June 26~ 197~, to ~r. Bonderud, <br />president of Local 1974, International Association of Fire Fighters~ <br />which reviewed the ~ast negotiations regarding salary and fringe <br />benefits for the firemen. Mr. Fales further reported that this after- <br />noon he had received a proposal from ~r.
