PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />!pplication of Raymond D. Youn~ for an amendment to Ord. No. 520 rezoning from the <br />IrP (Industrial Park.) District to the C-S (C__9~_nmercial S~ryice) District,.,.tbat pr.q- <br />~?rty..describ~!~ ~s LOt. 32, Tract No. 2537,_.__Said property located on the southeast <br />corner of Sonoma Drive and Sunol Blvd. <br /> Mayor Reid declared the Public Hearing open. <br /> Mr. Aiello read a report from the Director of Planning, which stated that the <br />Planning Commission, at their regular meeting of April 8, 1970, adopted Resolution <br />No. 999, approving the application of Raymond D. Young which requested a change <br />from the Industrial Park District to the Commercial Service District, in light of <br />the conditions stated for the approval of the minor subdivision. <br /> Mr. Aiello also stated that the applicant's request is to support a completely <br />enclosed veterinarian's office, which is compatible with uses projected for the C-S <br />District. <br /> Mr. Charles Seymour, 492 San Gabriel Court, reported that there is a definite <br />traffic hazard for traffic on Sonoma Drive turning south on Sunol Boulevard. Mr. <br />Seymour suggested that perhaps a portion of the bank in front of the cemetery could <br />be cut back, or else a no left hand turn sign posted. He asked that the staff con~ <br />sider this matter. Mr. Seymour stated that he was not against the rezoning but was <br />against the traffic hazards that would result from the developing of this area un- <br />less remedial measures were taken. <br /> There being no further remarks from the public regarding this proposed rezoning, <br />it was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that <br />the Public Hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Mr. Campbell, in answer to Councilman Beratlis' question, stated that this <br />traffic situation was considered and recommended that this minor subdivision appli- <br />cation be denied unless the owner is willing to grant the City all access rights <br />from Sunol Boulevard for both parcels created by this subdivision, and to provide <br />adequate access from Sonoma Drive to Parcel No. 2. <br /> Councilman Beratlis suggested that this rezoning be continued for 2 or 3 weeks <br />in order to await the Industrial Committee's report. <br /> Mr. Fales stated that this report should be available within 3 weeks. <br /> Mr. Raymond Young stated that if this is not continued longer than 3 weeks, it <br />will not create an undue hardship upon him. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br />that the application of Raymond Young be continued for decision at the meeting of <br />May 25, 1970, in order to allow the staff to study the traffic situation at Sonoma <br />Drive and Sunol Boulevard and also to await the report from the Industrial Develop- <br />ment Committee. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spilioto~oulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />~pplication of Dr. R. P. Juhl for an amendment to Ord. No. 520 rezon~D~ from the <br />A___~gric!~lture~ District to the O (,O_f. fice) District that property described as a <br />portion of Parcel 1-4, Block 3367, Assessor's MaD Book 1946~ containing a~prox. .24 <br />~c__r.es~ and located on the south side of Black Avenue approx. 500 feet west of Santa <br />E. ita Road <br /> Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open. <br /> Mr. Aiello reported that the Planning Commission, at its regular meeting of <br />April 8, 1970, adopted Resolution No. 1001, recommending to the City Council that <br />the application of Dr. R. P. Juhl, requesting rezoning of an additional 19 feet <br />from the Agricultural District to the Office District, be approved. Mr. Aiello <br />stated that this request was due to the precise definition of the medical suite <br />site and the applicant's procedure of selling individual sites to various doctors, <br />as well as building their facilities. <br /> There being no public protest, it was moved by Councilman Getton and seconded <br />by Councilman Beratlis that the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br />
