16i;i7

Mayor Reid stated he had received an invitation for Mayors and Councilmen from
Mr. Ralph W. Boroff, Associated Students University of California, Berkeley, dated
April 15, 1970, to attend a program on April 27, 1970.

Mayor Reid read a letter from Roger Beck, of the California Chiropractic
Association, sponsoring an observance of Correct Posture ~eek, May 3 to 9.

Mayor Reid read a letter from William H- Best, III, Chairman, South Bay
Regional Housing Conference, inviting the M~yor and Councilmen to a Housing
Conference at San Jose State College on May 15 and 16, 1970, sponsored by HUD
and the State of California Department of Housing and Community Development.

MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Mr. C. William Moore, 1816 Tanglewood Hay, of the Clean Air Coordinating
Committee, addressed the Council with the following statement: "I come before
you tonight to make a statement in behalf of the Clean Air Coordinating Committee
(CACC), which I serve as a representative of the Pleasanton Jaycees. As you know,
the Clean Air Coordinating Committee is doing everything in its power to get action
on air pollution problems within our valley. Part of that plan includes support
of the Valley Planning Committee (VPC). Twice within the last three months,
Valley Planning Committee meetings were delayed or cancelled due to lack of a
quorum. In both cases, representatives from Pleasanton were involved. Last week,
Tom Schweser, VPC chairman, stated that he would ask for disbandment of the com-
mittee if no quorum is present for the May 14 meeting. The recent election
produced an abundance of talk from the candidates on pollution and regional
planning, and Mayor Reid's statement of last Friday indicated that he believes
in the VPC concept. If these statements are to be more than rhetoric, this city
council must do whatever is necessary to ensure representatives will ateend all
VPC meetings in the future. Mayor Reid, we call upon you and the council to
support the Valley Planning Committee with more than words. We ask you support
the VPC with active participation".

EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Reid adjourned the meeting to an executive session at 10:10 P.M.

Mayor Reid reconvened the meeting at 11:10 P.M.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business at 11:15 P.M., it was moved by Councilman
Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Getton that the meeting be adjourned to meet
again in Adjourned Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on May 4, 1970.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Respectfully submitted,

DORIS GEORGE, Deputy City

HELE~RTY,~~lerk
ROBE~Q~ I. REI~, Ma~or
