159 MINUTES of THE MEETING of I~E CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California April 27, 1970 CALL TO ORDER - ~DGE TO FLAG Mayor Robert Reid called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL City Clerk Pro Tam Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: Councilmen Beratlis, Getton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid were present. Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public ~lorks, and Mr. Castro, Director of Planning, were present. ~ AGENIL AMENDMENTS L~ 'Mayor Reid asked the following representatives from various Pleasanton schools 00 to come forward: 'D Gall I~ilcox Amador High School ~.~ Bruce Cavestri Pleasanton Elementary Bre~a Jones Valley View Clark Fuller Alisal Cathy Pasut Harvest Park Chris Echavia and Jori Alexander Lydikson Mayor Reid commended these students and their schools for their participation in Earth Day, April 22, 1970, and the demonstration of what can be done by the .... youngsters of the conmunity. Councilman Getton expressed his congratulations to these students and further stated this is where education and control of pollution should begin. Councilman Beratlis thanked the students for a great job well done. Councilman Pearson added his congratulations to these young people. Councilman Spiliotopoulos also commended the students on a good job and urged ~hem to keep it up. Mayor Reid presented ex-Mayor Gertonwith the gavel and block, and thanked him for his dedication and service to the City. Councilman Gerton accepted the gavel and block with thanks. CONSENT CALENDAR It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved: a. Waiving the reading of Ordinance No. 595, amending Section 28.109, of Ordinance No. 520, adding sub-section (a) - Conditions. b. Adoption of Ordinance No. 595. c. Waiving the reading of Ordinance No. 596, mending Ordinance No. 520, rezoning from the A (Agriculture) District to the C-N (Neighborhood Commercial) District: that property described as a neighborhood commercial center within Tract No. 2905. d. A~option of Ordinance No. 596. e. A~option of Resolution No. 70-87, accepting the Grant Deed for street widening at 992 Santa Rita Road. f. Adoption of Resolution No. 70-88, releasing cash bond to Petroleum Engineering. g. Adoption of Resolution No. 70-89, approving the Freeway Maintenance Agreement for the South Approach to Tassajara Road Overcrossing of Freeway Route 580. h. Accepting the informational report of the Planning Commission Re: A~proval of Tentative Tract Map No. 3112, Valley Trails, Unit No. 4.
