Mrs. Birdie Meier Bianchi, 4329 Railroad Avenue, requested that the City <br /> Council appoint a member to sit on ~he VCEOO Board. <br /> Mayor Getton assured her that someone will be appointed at the Executive Session <br /> that will be held this evening. <br /> <br /> Mayor Getton recessed the meeting at 10:35 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gerton reconvened the meeting at 10:48 P.M. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF BOARDS AND.COM~I, SS!ONS,..Continued <br /> Report of the Recreation and Park Com~.ission Re: Joint Study Session <br /> Mr. Fales stated that the Recreation and Park Commission has requested a joint <br /> study session with the City Council in order to discuss what is the most practical <br /> method of financing the first phase of a community center building. <br /> Mr. Fales was instructed to schedule a meeting. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Re.port Re: Boy Scout Week - February 9-15th <br /> Mr. Fales reviewed his report which outlined the program for Boy Scout Week. <br />Mr. Fales stated that this program will include a City Government Day. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Betaills that the <br />basic plan of the programbe approved and that the Mayor be authorized to proclaim <br />the week of February 9-13th as Boy Scout Week, <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid stated that several of the Boy Scout Troups will be working at <br />Highland Oaks Park next Saturday. <br /> <br />R~Dort of the Director of Public Works Re: Proposed New Traffic Ordinance <br /> Mr. Fales asked if there were any questions regarding this proposed Traffic <br />Ordinance. Mr. Hirst stated the Ordinance could be introduced at this meeting and <br />then discussed in detail prior to it's adoption. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Rega that Ordi- <br />nance No. 590, Traffic Ordinance, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rega, Reid and Mayor Getton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br /> <br />R~port Re: Proposed Legislative Action Reg~rdinR ~mog_and Tax Reform <br /> Mr. Fales indicated that action has already been taken by the City Council <br />approving this matter. <br /> Mr. Fales reported that a meeting has been scheduled for February 11, 1970, <br />with the City Council, the Livermore City Council, Assemblyman Carlos Bee and <br />Senator Clark Bradley, to be held in Sacramento, to discuss both Air Pollution and <br />Tax Reform. <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mr. Fales reDotied that he had received a letter, dated January 27, 1970, from <br />John J. Amaral, Secretary of the Pleasanton Area Chamber of Commerce, advising him <br />that the Central Business District Committee and the Chamber of Commerce had voted <br />unanimously to retain the "Pleasanton" sign over Main Street. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales stated that information from the Bay Area National Wild Life Refuge <br />had been forwarded to the Council regarding the possibility of making a portion of <br />San Francisco Bay a National Wild Life Refuge. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports of the City Attorney. <br /> <br />COMMUNICAT IONS <br />From Mr. Walter Packard~ Chairman - March of .Dimes <br /> it was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the <br />Mayor be authorized to proclaim the week of February 16-22nd, 1970, as "March of <br />Dimes Week". <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rata, Reid and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />A~SENT: Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br /> 4. <br /> <br /> <br />
