Mayor Getton read
an excerpt from an article on Subsidized Home-ownership for Low-Income Families
through Federally Subsidized Mortgage Interest, which appeared in the Oakland
Tribune newspaper recently.
Mayor Getton requested that this be placed on next week's agenda.
Councilman Reid suggested that this article be sent to the Housing Authority
for their comments.

In reference to the proposed Southern Bay Bridge Crossing, Mayor Gerton
initiated discussion on what stand the City should take. Councilman Spiliotopoulos
stated that he felt that he didnt have enough information regarding this issue.
Councilman Reid concurred and requested that it be discussed at the City Council
meeting on February 2, 1970.

MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Mr~ James E. Henry, 4954 Drywood Street, and Mr. John Sesto, Jr., 4980 Drywood
Street, presented the problem of rain water standing under their respective homes.
Mr. Henry asked if the City Building Codes protected the homeowner in this m~tter.
Both Messrs. Henry and Sesto stated that there were no drain tiles installed when
the homes were built. Mayor Getton instructed Mr. Campbell to investigate this
matter.

Mr. Robert E. Lee, 4938 Drywood, complimented the City Council regarding the
stop order placed on the developer not complying with the plans approved by the
City and also on the City's interest in low-cost housing.

Mr. Lee asked for clarification on the Council's action approving the rezoning
to multiple on the Mobile Estates property, as he was under the impression that no
rezoning would be approved until after the Citizens-Council meeting on February !6th
was held.
Mayor Gerton explained the property was agricultural land and had no other
zoning and was designated as multiple zoning on the General Plan.

Mr. Lee, who also complained of water standing under his home, requested that
the City consider amending the Building Code to provide for galvanized ducting in
the construction of homes.
Mr. Campbell was instructed to consider this request and report on it.

EXECUTIVE SESSION: APPOINTMENTS
Mayor Getton recessed the meeting at 9:50 P.M., to an Executive Session.

Mayor Getton reconvened the meeting at 10:12 P.M.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business at 10:15 P.M., it was moved by Councilman
Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that the meeting be adjourned to meet
aSain in Adjourned Regular Session at 8:00 P.M,, on February 2, 1970.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Betatile, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Respectfully submitted,

~E~ C: ~CARTi, City' Cler~"~~''

BERNARD T.
