She advised the Council that that facility is <br />less than half the size needed to meet the use the citizens of <br />Pleasanton need. ~tiss boyd emphasized the advantages of leasing a <br />fscilityfacility to be used as a library, rather than making perm- <br />anent arrangements at this time. She offerred three alternatives, <br />namely, 1) the library could either be moved to another building where <br />there is room to expand, 2) space in a commercial development could <br />be adapted to library specifications and leased, or 3) a private <br />developer could be asked to build to specifications and then lease <br />the building to the library. <br /> <br />Mr. Fales was asked to set a study session to discuss the alternatives <br />Miss. He <br />also reviewed the staff report, dated September 10, 1970, which con- <br />cluded that should the Planning Commission recommend the prezoning <br />of this property, the PUblic I;orks Department and the Planning Staff <br />would recommend that the conditional use permit to allow construct- <br />ion of taxis project be approved subject to soi~e 57 conditions.
