Mr. Richard Hunt, co-owner of Jorgensen's Pharmacy, stated that if the <br />parking spaces on St. Mary Street were eliminated, he would suffer severe <br />financial difficulties as these spaces were used almost entirely by the <br />patrons of his drug store. <br /> <br />After considerable revj~w of this _nroDosed signalization project, the City <br />Council approved Alternate Plan la, in principle, with the provision that <br />rather than eliminate the current diagonal parking on the south side of <br />St. Mary Street, this area should be converted to parallel parking in <br />connection with the project. The Council also indicated that, upon <br />final approval of the project, the stripping proposed by the amended <br />Alternate Plan la, be instituted prior to the actual installation of the <br />signals. <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> <br />Mr. Fales reported that a letter from Mr. John Bowling, dated August 21, <br />1970, regarding conferences relating to the implementation of the ttousing <br />Plan, has been forwarded to the Council for their information. <br /> <br />Mr. Fales stated that a proposed schedule for September Council meetings <br />has been forwarded for the ~ouncil's information and a list of high <br />priority items which should be discussed at the proposed study sessions, <br />will be forthcoming. <br /> <br />b~. Fales advised the Council that a letter from Mrs. William Sharp, a <br />resident of the City, thanking the City for providing recreational <br />facilities in the Fairlands area, has been forwarded to them. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br />Memo from City Attorney Re: Train Speed Ordinance <br /> <br />Mr. Hirst informed the Council that his memo was an informational item. <br /> <br />Copy of letter from City Attorney to Councilman Spilioto~ulos Re: lqeed <br />Abatement <br /> <br />Mr. Hirst stated that the above letter was in ans~ver to an inquiry <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos had made. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />From Mr. Ronald Conway, 42 Atherton Avenue, Atherton, Re: American <br />Prisoners of War <br /> <br />Mr. Fales read the aboce letter and was directed to acknowledge and file <br />this communication. <br /> <br />From Mr. J.D. Stacy, 1211 Park Avenue, San Jose, Re: Reque..st to annex <br />property g~erally located'on the north Siae of Vineyard Aven_.ue <br /> <br />Mr. Fales read the letter from Mr. Stacy which requested annexation of <br />his property on Vineyard Avenue, to the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Mr. Fales was directed to prepare the necessary application for this <br />requested annexation and file it with the Local Agency Formation <br />Commission. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis reported on the Water Meeting he attended. <br /> <br /> 6. 8-31-70 <br /> <br /> <br />
