PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br /> There were no piblic hearings scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br /> MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br /> <br /> Further=~ discussion re:. Foothill Road Petition <br /> <br /> Mayor .Reid 'announced that he would allow members from the audience to <br /> participate in this discussion provided 'that it was conducted in an <br /> orderly manner. <br /> <br /> Councilman Gernon asked Mr, Ed McDonald what he thought the action <br /> taken by the' petitioners would accomplish. <br /> <br /> Mr. McDonald read the petition which he stated would preserve the <br /> rural area of Foothill Road. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Joyce Le Claire and Mrs. Ruth Amaral both spoke on the question- <br /> able n. eed for a neighborhood shopping center on Foothill Road and <br /> remarked to the great possibility that the population in that area <br /> could not support such a ~center. <br /> <br /> Messrs. Ted .Bogardus, Ted ~Lannin, Joh~t Long, Victor Bailey, Mark <br /> Anderson, John McWilliams, Chuck Seymour and Mrs'~~ Glo~k~nspine, were <br /> among the members of the audience who spoke in favor of retaining <br /> Foothill ROad-as airural. area. <br /> <br /> Mr.. Robert. Roessler, Attorney for Castlewood Enterprises, offered <br /> a ..compromise .to the City Council of RM-4000 Multiple Zoning on the <br /> entire' p'arcel. <br /> <br /> Mayor Reid recessed the .meeting~at 10:45 P.M. to allow the R,F.D, <br /> Committee to consider Mr. Roessler' s compromise, <br /> <br /> Mayor Reid reconvened the meeting at 10:50 P.M. <br /> <br /> .The members of the. committee of the Rural Foothill Defenders stated <br /> that' this compromise~ .was .unacceptable. <br /> <br />=Mr.. Hirs~ upon Mayor Reid's direction, listed the following alter- <br /> natives of the City'in this rezoning matter. <br /> <br /> a..; ! =RepeaL~!lOr'dinance. No. 629 <br /> <br /> b.
