449

Councilman Beratlis rebutted that in relation to this, Councilman
Pearson should resign from the City Council as he works for Kaiser
which owns Kaiser-Etna Development Company who is also developing
in Pleasanton.

Mayor Reid interjected that this matter should be discussed in an
executive session but the City Attorney ruled that it was not an
appropriate matter for an executive' session.

Each councilman upheld Councilman Beratlis' viewpoints regarding
the confidence in the preformance of the subject commissioners
on the Planning Commission.

The matter was then dropped with no further action indicated.

Councilman Gerton suggested that the Council adopted a resolution
commending Mr. Richard Yackley and all others for their efforts
in the construction pf the new Little League playing fields.

It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis
that Resolution No. 71-100, commending Mr. Richard Yackley and all
of the other persons who have been involved in the construction of
the new Little League playing fields located upon the recently ac-
quired 105 acre park on IIopyard Road, be adopted.

The roll call vote was as follows:

AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos
NOES: None and Mayor Reid
ABSENT: None

MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Mr. McKeon, president of the Pleasanton American National Little
League, initiated discussion regarding the installation of a
water line to the new playing field on Hopyard Road.

Mr. Campbell was asked to investigate the possibility of getting
water to this site.

Mr. Ted Lannin, 5372 Ridgevale, stated that he felt, regarding the
employment of commissioners with development companies, that a
definite moral conflict of interest is involved and planni~ng com-
missioners should not be forced into a situation where they have to
make a choice. He further stated that the City Council should re-
consider some of the members of the Planning Commission and the
people of Pleasanton should reconsider some of the City Councilmen.

Mr. Cecil Wells, 2338 Jamaica Way, San Leandro, stated that he was
planning to run a commuter bus line from the Valley to San Francisco.
The City Councilmen had no objections to his plans.

ADJOUF~MENT

There being no further business at 10:05 P.M., it was moved by
Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the meet-
ing be adjourned to meet ~again in Regular Session at 8;00 P.M. on
May 10, 1971.

The roll call vote was as follows:

AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and
NOES: None Mayor Reid
ABSENT: None

6. 5-3-71
