Mr. William Borg, representing the Pleasanton School District, stated <br /> that they had 300 children in the Elementary School at Camp Parks and <br /> have extensive plans for a bus maintenance program which could in- <br /> clude maintenance service for all valley schools as well as for the <br /> City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />~r considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Gerton and <br />seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that Resolution No. 71-88, <br />approving the recommendations contained in the report of the City <br />Manager, dated April 23, 1971, be adopted. <br /> <br /> An amended resolution to "include only public lands" , made by Coun- <br /> cilman Pearson, was not accepted by Councilman Gerton. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Reid and seconded by Councilman Pearson that <br /> Substitute Resolution No. 71-88, modifying the City Council policy <br /> as expressed in Resolution No. 69-122 to the extent that no objection <br /> will be raised by the Pleasanton City Council regarding any proposed <br /> annexation by the Valley Community Services District of areas within <br /> Camp Parks located north of Interstate Route 580 and south of the <br /> Contra Costa County boundary which are either owned by or for which <br /> application for acquisition has been submitted by the Pleasanton <br /> Joint School 'DistriCt, .'!t/i~l. A~&dor Vatte3t._ Joint High School District, <br /> the Alameda County Association for the Mentally Retarded, the East <br /> Bay Regional Park District, recognized church groups, or the prop- <br /> erty owned by the County of Alameda upon which the Santa Rita Rehab- <br /> ilitation Center is now located and the property upon which it is <br /> planned to relocate the Center, be adopted. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br /> NOES: None Mayor Reid <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Matters for the information of the Council <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales stated that a memorandum, dated April 22, 1971, from the <br /> City Attorney, had been for~¢arded to the City Council regarding <br /> Detachment No. 68-1 from Valley Community Services District. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br /> There were no reports of the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> COM/4UNICATIONS <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales read a letter signed by 24 residents, thanking the City <br /> Council for their approval for enforcement of the speed limits on <br /> Valley Avenue with the implementation of radar control and other <br /> measures of pedestrian safety. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales read aletter, dated April 23, 1971, from Mr. William <br /> Struthers., attorney for the .Pleasanton Housing Authority, regarding <br /> the recovery.of $347,000 from the City of Pleasanton which the Hous- <br /> ing Authority paid to.the City between 1954 and July 1, 1967. Mr. <br /> Struthers stated that this was not an issue in the Tyree case but he <br /> felt that although the plaintiff's attorney stated that they would <br /> not sue the City, he ~should report this potential liability to the <br /> City. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL/COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br /> Councilman Gerton reported that at a recent Bay Area Pollution Control <br /> Board meeting he attended, the Board adopted some long-range goals <br /> regarding air.pollution. which he felt were quite stringent. <br /> <br /> 4. 4-26-71 <br /> <br /> <br />
