Mr, John Ames, 2539 Willowren Way, suggested that citizens in that <br /> area volunteer their time in helping to eliminate this traffic problem. <br /> <br /> Considerable discussion ensued regarding the spped limit on Valley <br /> Avenue{ enforcement of the speed by radar controlled equipment and <br /> Safety education for the children. <br /> <br /> The City Co~u%cil requested that the Public Works Department immediately <br /> uommenee a study with regard to the reduction of the speed limit on <br /> Valley Avenue for its full length, on Hopyard Road for its full length, <br /> and on santa Rita Road for its full length, to 25 miles per hour. <br /> <br />The DirectOr of Public WOrks was requested to review the location of <br />the existing 30 miles per hour speed limit sign which is located on <br />Santa Rita Road north of Valley Avenue in order to ascertain whether <br />or not this sign should be moved further north. <br /> <br />The chief of Police was requested to meet with Judge Gale in order to <br />dise.~ss with him in more detail his suggestion regarding the increasing <br />of f~'n~s 'for moving violations alsong Valley Avenue in the subject area. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Pearson <br /> that ResOlution No. 71-80, be adopted, inStrUcting the City Staff as <br /> fo~ 1 ows ~ <br /> <br /> 1, Th~ PUblic Works Department is to add "Radar Control" signs to <br /> t~e e~isting signing in both directions on Valley Avenue in advance <br />Of the school crosswalk for the Harvest Park School and also implement <br />other suggestions made for device changes in this area as outlined in <br />the repo=t of the City Manager, dated April 5, 1971. <br /> <br /> 2.
