Ylr. <br />Aiello also revi. e?~ed the action taken b~:~ the Planning Commission at <br />their meeting on February 23, 1971, at v~'hich time that Commission <br />adopted Resolution No. 1068, recommending to the City Council the <br />rezoning of this parcel. as follo~.ys: 5.8 acres to the Neighborhood <br />Commercial District; 1.0 acres to the Office District; and 10.65 <br />acres to the F4,~,-,2500 ~'k~ltj_Dle District. <br /> <br />L~r. Russell Roessle~', at~orne'y for t'~=!,~;Castle~..xood Enterprises proper- <br />ty owners, stated tha~ his clients had never made an application to <br />the City to have an amendment to the General Plan or for any precise <br />zoning. He stated that the p~esen~ action before the Council was or- <br />iginated by the City and although the Planning Commission applicat- <br />ion resulted in his clients loosing a substantial amount of Community <br />Commercial and Neighborhood ConLmercial zoning, they did not feel that <br />this action was unreasonablc~ <br /> <br />r:4r. Ed McDonald, 1931 Paseo de Cajon, spoke for an impromptu committee <br />called the "Rural Foothill Defenders Committee", presented film slides <br />of the scenic beauty of Foothill t~oad. t,Ir. McDonald stated that this <br />beauty could be removed by the developer ~ if he is allowed to develop <br />this property as proposed. ~'k. McDonald also stated that his <br />ittec had no objection to :;ing],c family estate type residences being <br />constructed in this a~ea. <br /> <br />Mr. Robert r.4cI:eod, a proF~erty owner on Foothill Road, presented a <br />brochure to tile City Council of the original plans of Castlewood <br />Enterprises which planned for 188 single family dw~]~Ms'.=~ Mr. <br />Leod ~,~ent into considerable detail regarding land value and pro- <br />pose~ land use and suggested that this zoning be held in abeyance <br />until the Stoneson Shopping Center is developed. Mr. McLeod also <br />objected to the type of construction of the 256 units built by <br />McKeon Developers and the traffic generated from this development. <br />Mr. McLeod reported that he had heard that McKeon Development has <br />purchased some .of the Castlewood Enterprises property for $40,000 an <br />acre ~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Victor Bailey, 4565 Black Avenue, stated that this city needs <br /> a Civic Center, a library and more industry rather than additional <br /> residential dwellings. <br /> <br />?4r. Chuck Seymore, 492 San Gabriel Court, stated that he felt that <br />whatever action is -taken on this parcel will set the trend for the <br />remaining undeveloped sections of Foothill Road. <br /> <br />Mrs. Marilyn King, 401 Oak Lane and Mrs. Christine Pearson, of <br />Hamilton Way, both objected strongly to this proposed zoning. <br /> <br /> There being no further comments from the public, it was moved by <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br /> the public hearing, be closed. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as folio;is: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he felt it would be in order <br /> to solict t/~e-cerements of :',lr.
