Report Re: Pedestrian Crossing on }topyard Road at Black Avenue <br /> <br />Mr. Campbell revie;,jed his report, dated January 29, 1971, in which <br />he made the following recommendations: <br /> <br /> 1. That traffic channelization islands be constructed by extruded <br /> asphalt berms, filled with rock, and the surface sealed. <br /> <br /> 2. That 500 feet of asphalt sidewalk be constructed connecting <br /> the intersection to existing sidewalk on the south side of <br /> Black Avenue. <br /> <br /> 3. That a pedestrian or school cross~valk be painted on Hopyard <br /> Road with standard ~dvance signing and pavement marking. <br /> <br />Mr. Campbell reported that a total of $2,000.00 would be needed for <br />this construction. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the fact that this cost be split between <br />the City and the developers, namely, Mackay Homes and Morrison Homes. <br />Mr. Campbell was directed to negotiate with these developers. <br /> <br />It ;vas moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Mayor Reid <br />that ResolutiOn No. 71-20, approving the recommendations of the <br />Director of Public Works and authorizing the expenditure up to <br />$2,000.00 for the required crossing improvements providing a coopera- <br />tion in the financing with Mackay Homes and Morrison Homes fail, <br />be adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSNET: Councilman Beratlis <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COD~ISSIONS <br /> <br />Report of the. Pl.anning Commission Re: Proposed Policy Relatin~ to <br />Streets. ~ghts on Private Streets <br /> <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the report of the Planning Commission, dated <br />January 27, 1971, recommending a policy relating to street lighting <br />on private streets. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman <br />Gerton that Resolution No. 71-22, approving the recommendations of <br />the Planning Commission regarding the adopting of a policy for street <br />lighting improvements on private streets, as outlined in their report <br />dated January 27, 1971, be adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Council, man Beratlis <br /> <br />REPORTS OF T}tE CITY MF~NAGER <br /> <br />Approval of Re_.Cognized City Holidays in accordance with the new <br />Calendar set forth in the State Law <br /> <br />Mr. Fales revie~,~ed the report of the Assistant City Manager, dated <br />January 28, 1971, and requested approval of City Holidays in accord- <br />ance with the new calendar set forth in the State Law. <br /> <br /> 3. 2-1-71 <br /> <br /> <br />
