MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California October 11, 1971 CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FLAG Mayor Robert Reid called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 8:00 P.M. and then the pledge of allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid were present. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works and Mr. Castro, Director of Comm- unity Development, were present. AGENDA AMENDMENTS Mr. Edgar requested that the review of bids and the awarding of the contract on the Bernal Avenue Realignment Project, be considered after the the approval of the Consent Calendar. CONSENT CALENDAR It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spilio- topoulos that the following item listed on the consent calendat, be approved. a. City Council Minutes for September, 1971. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and NOES: None Mayo.r. Reid ABSENT: None Review of bids, Award'of Contract Re: Bernal Avenue Realignment Mr. Campbell stated that sealed proposals were received and opened at 2:00 P.M. this date for the construction of the above improve- ments which included First Stage Street Improvements, Drainage structures and a complete ultimate water main loop. He recommended that the contract be awarded to the low bidder, East Bay Excavating Company for $125,594.02. After some discussion regarding the Civic Center Project, it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 71-201, awarding the contract to East Bay Excava- ting Company for the Bernal Avenue Realignment for $125,594.02, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and NOES: None Mayor Reid ABSENT: None
