MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> Pleasanton, California <br /> August 2, 1971 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> <br />Mayor Robert Reid called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City <br />Council to order at 8:00 P.M. and then led the pledge of allegiance <br />to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />were present. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, and <br />Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, were present. Mr. Castro, <br />Director of Planning was absent. <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDmeNTS <br /> <br />Councilman Pearson requested that item "a" be removed from the Consent <br />Calendar and be discussed. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar requested that item "c", regardin~ the appeal of the Croak <br />Road Dump site to be heard by the Board of Supervisors on August 5th, <br />be added to Matters Continued for DecisiOn. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid requested that an item "d" regarding a Joint Ecercise of <br />Powers Agreement regarding Criminal Justice, be added to Matters <br />Continued for Decision. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid asked Councilman Pearson to initiate discussion on item <br />"a", Consent Calendar, regarding the approval of the Final Map and <br />Improvement Plans, Tract No. 3297, Pleasanton Meadows, Townhouses <br />No. 1. <br /> <br />Councilman Pearson stated that he objected to the approval of these <br />townhouses because the closing of Camp Parks School could possibly <br />cause the other schools to be on double sessions and the development <br />of these townhouses would only tend to complicate this situation. <br /> <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that the School District is leasing <br />portable school buildings in order to accomodate the children without <br />having any double sessions. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid stated that the townhouses would not be occupied for <br />another year. <br /> <br />After additional discussion, it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br />and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 71-156, <br />approving the Final Map and Improvement Plans for Tract No. 3297, <br />Pleasanton Meadows, Townhouses No. 1, be adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: Councilman Pearson <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br />
