MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California July 26, 1971 CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG Mayor Robert Reid called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 8:00 P.M. and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded a~ follows: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid were present. Councilman Pearson was absent. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Sooby, Senior Engineer, were present. Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, was absent. AGENDA AMENDMENTS There were no amendments to the agenda. Mr. Edgar announced that Mr. Jack Pous, a 25-year employee of the City, was killed in the line of duty this afternoon. The Council- men expressed their deepest regret. CONSENT CALENDAR It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved. a. Adoption of Resolution No. 71-153, accepting deeds from & Mr. and Mrs. William Struthers for road purposes and d. from Pleasanton Properties for street purposes. b. Allowing the continuance of the approval of Final Map and Improvement Plans, Tract No. 3312, Val Vista, Unit No. 7, at the request of both the applicant and the staff c. Adoption of Resolution No. 71-154, declaring annexation proceedings initiated and giving notice of a public hearing on September 13, 1971 of proposed annexation designated as Annexation No. 62, Elliott. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor NOES: None Reid ABSENT: Councilman Pearson Mayor Reid stated that he would like to initiate discussion on the recent action taken by the Executive Committee of A.B.A.G. Mayor Reid read a letter of resignation from Mayor Jack Maltester of San Leandro.
