Mary Street, questioned the City concerning
their possible endorsement Df Pr~position No. 9, after he had unsucess-
fully attempted to have the month of June proclaimed as Air War
Initiative Month.

Councilman Kinney stated that his reason for not endorsing the Air
War Initiative I proposal was based upon the fact that the area of
jurisdiction was of such magnitude, whereas Proposition No. 9 is
a more local issue.

Mayor Reid stated that if the City Council wishes to a take a position
on the initiative itself, it can certainly do that, but if proclaiming
June as a Air War Initiative month was an endorsement, the City Council
did not wish to do this°

Mr. McNicoll then stated that he felt that by merely proclaiming it,
it was not asking the Council to take a stand on it either way.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Mayor Reid recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 11:05 P.M.
in order to discuss appointments.

Mayor Reid reconvened the meeting at 11:20 P.M.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business at 11:21 P.M., it was moved by Council-
man Herlihy and seconded by Councilman Kinney that the meeting be
adjourned to meet again in Adjourned Regular Session at 7:00 P.M.
on June 5, 1972.

The roll call vote was as follows: ~

AYES: 'COuncilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Respectfully submitted,

HELEN C. McCARTY,

7. 5-22-72
