ordinance amending the truck route ordinance to prohibit the use of <br /> certain streets within the city because of the high cost of maintain= <br /> ing the streets which were no constructed for this heavy duty. <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell gave a detailed report on the statistics of this use along <br /> with other pertinent information relating to Santa Rita Road in part- <br /> icular <br /> <br /> Mr. Hirst reported that there is a 60-day hearing period for the amend- <br /> ment procedure and explained the requirements of the Vehicle Code re- <br /> garding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar recommended that the City Council put in motion the proper <br /> procedure to adopt an ordinance for this purpose. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Spilio- <br /> topoulos that the staff be authorized to proceed in establishing the <br /> required public hearings as outlined in the Vehicle Code and that <br /> the City Council intends to adopt an ordinance prohibiting trucks <br /> from using certain city streets. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: · <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Presentation of a Request Re: Bicycle Paths along Foothill. Road <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar reported that he had received a petition signed by some <br />450 citizens declaring their desire to have a bicycle path constructed <br />from Dublin, along Foothill Road to West Las Positas Road, along West <br />Las Positas Road, terminating at Hopyard Road in Pleasanton. He rec- <br />ommended that this request be submitted to the Planning Department <br />for inclusion and evaluation in light of the study which is now being <br />reviewed by the Planning Commission and will be set for public hear- <br />ing throughout the community, in the near future. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar then read a letter from Mr. Ted Lannin requesting that, <br />in view of this proposed bicycle path, the speed limit on Foothill <br />Road be reduced. <br /> <br />Mrs. Notton and Mr. Jack Curtain from Highland Oakes both spoke to <br />this problem along with supporting the petition. <br /> <br />Mr. Campbell reported that a roadway study has been made by MacKay <br />and Somps and is at the County level at the present time° <br /> <br />Mayor Reid stated that this City Council as well as former City Council <br />members, Planning Commissioners and members of the Parks and Recrea- <br />tion Commission have endorsed a trail system and would like to see <br />imput from citizens at the Planning Commission meetings regarding this <br />project~ <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND C~4MISSIONS <br /> <br />Report of the Planning Commission Re: Foothill Road Rezoning <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar reported that at the March 14, 1972 meeting of the Planning <br />Commission, that commission reiterated its pervious position as noted <br />in their Resolution No. 1166. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br />that Ordinance No. 657, amending the Zoning Map of the City of Pleas-- <br />anton and an ordinance amending Title II, Chapter 2, of the Ordinance <br />Code of the City of Pleasanton rezoning a parcel of property some <br /> <br /> -3- 3-20-72 <br /> <br /> <br />
