SPECIAL REPORT~ <br /> Presentation Re: ProRosition 20 <br /> Councilman Her!ihy requested time on the agenda to speak on behalf o£ Proposi- <br /> tion 20, urging support of this matter in order to preserve the remaining natural <br /> coastline i~ California, and encourage its passage on the November ballot. <br /> Councia. men Kinney stated that since the area in question was not ~n our <br /> immediate d~.~trict that the Council should not support issues which did not <br /> directly c~ncern us~ <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that <br />Resolu~io~ No~ 72-157, supporting Proposition 20, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: C~u~cilman Kinney <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />Report of the Planning Commission~ Re: Increase in Park Dedication Fees <br /> Gary Patton presented the staff report regarding this matter. <br /> Mayor Reid declared this matter continued to September 25, 1972, for fuzther <br />information from the staff. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Report of the Director of P~blic Works~ Re: Speed Limits on Santa Rita Road and <br />Tas saj <br /> Mr. Campbell presented an oral report regarding this matter, requesting lowered <br />speed limits o~ this street, as recommended by the Traffic Committee. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Councilman Kinney~ that Ordinance <br />No~ 676, changing the speed limit on Santa Rita Road as follows: <br /> <br /> We/is Street to Valley Avenue 35 MPH <br /> Valley Avenue to Tassajara 45 MPH <br /> Tassajara to Interchange 55 MPH <br /> <br />be int~oduced~ <br />The roll call voue was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: Councilman Pearson <br />ABSENT: None <br />Co~ ~1 g~ P~s~a~e~ueste~ to Qa~n record in opposition to the speed limit changes, <br />in all area~ excet~_~in Street~ and Shopping Center sidewalks <br /> Campbe~ presented an oral report regarding this matter, stating the Traffic <br />Committee ha~ ~one much research of other bicycle paths, especially from the cities <br />of Paio Alto, Davis and Berkeley, and requested an amendment to the Traffic Ordi- <br />na~ce~ <br /> The Council concurred in principle with the report of the Traffic Committee, and <br />directed the s~aff to come back with recommended amendments to the Traffic Ordinance <br />to allow bicycles on sidewalks. <br /> <br />Report of ~he Director of Public Works~ Re: Approval of plan reSardin~ the construc- <br />tion of Brid~e~ver the ArroTo Mocho on Santa Rita Road - a Joint project with <br />Alameda Count~ <br /> Mr. Campbell presented an oral report regarding this matter, and displayed a <br />drawing o~ ~he proposed bridge site. He requested an agreement b~ made between <br />the City and ~he County, approving the plans and specifications for this bridge~ <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that <br />Resolution No~ 72-158, approving a plan line for the Santa Rita Road Bridge out- <br />side the p~esent future width line in order to accommodate retention during con- <br />struction of the existing bridge, be adopted. <br />The roll caii vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Matters foK the lnfozmation of the Council <br /> There were no matters for the information of the Council. <br /> <br /> 3. 9/18/72 <br /> <br /> <br />
