MINUTES <br /> of ~ <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> August 7, 1972 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FL~.G <br /> Mayor Robert Reid called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br />7:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid were present. Mr. <br />Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public <br />Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of Community Development, were present. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman Kinney that <br />the following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Waive reading of Ordinance No. 671, an ordinance repealing Zoning Unit No. <br /> l19B, and the provisions of Ordinance 656, as they relate to certain pro- <br /> perties shown on Zoning Unit No. l19B and listed in Ordinance 656 by assess- <br /> ment parcel number and lifting the "S" (Study) District zoning designation <br /> from said properties located in what is commonly referred to as the Central <br /> Business District of the City of Pleasanton~ <br /> <br />bo Adoption of Ordinance No. 671. <br /> <br />co Adoption of Resolution No. 72-131, approving progress payment No. 1, to <br /> Steiny Company, Inc., for work completed on Project 72-3S, Black Avenue <br /> Signals, in the amount of $4,410.00o <br /> <br />d. Adoption of Resolution No. 72-132, accepting agreement between City and <br /> Falender Homes Corp., regarding Oakhill Park site. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Appeal of Savmor Auto Supply~ Inc., from an adverse decision of the Planning <br />Commission in denyin~ a Conditional Use Permit to locate an automotive acces- <br />sories store in the Val Vista Shoppins Center <br /> Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open° <br /> <br /> Mro Edgar presented the staff report, stating that because the store is <br />strictly a retail outlet, the Planning Commission voted to uphold the commer- <br />cial uses as noted in the Zoning Ordinance, thus denying the request of <br />Brookvale Properties Company to locate their auto supply store in the Val <br />Vista Shopping Center. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edwin E. Raphel, Brookvale Properties Company, 2777 Alvarado Street, <br /> San Leandro, urged favorable consideration by the City Council of this appeal. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that <br /> the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Heriihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br />
