MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> July 17, 1972 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Reid called the Adjourned Regular Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M., <br />and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid were present. Mr. <br />Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public <br />Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of Community Development, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Edgar asked that item a under the Consent Calendar be removed and approved <br />as a separate item later on the agenda. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney and seconded by Councilman Herlihy that the <br />following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of Claims in the amount of $141,829.07, for June, 1972. <br /> <br /> Adoption of Resolution No. 72-123, accepting a Grant Deed from Duke and <br /> Roselma Bonds for road purposes~ <br /> <br />c. Adoption of Resolution No. 72-124, regarding Preservation of Local Government. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of the. City Council to review the franchise issued to Tele-Vue S~stemS~ <br />Inc.s and complaints from the residents of the City <br /> Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open and asked for a staff report. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar reviewed his report of July 17, 1972, which gave considerable back- <br />ground on the franchise the Tele-Vue Systems, Inc., has with the City. <br /> <br /> Mr. Chris Derick, Manager of the Tele-Vue Systems office for this area, pre- <br />sented charts and reported on how the percentage of customer complaints had <br />dropped. He gave an extensive report on how his company was conducting their <br />preventative maintenance program and the installation of "pedestals" which will <br />provide better reception, as well as providing immediate response to customer <br />complaints. He cited that the cuase for power failures was caused by PG&E, <br />which Mr. John Stanley, of that company, concurred° <br /> <br /> Mr. Victor Bailey, 4565 Black Avenue, complained of a pedestal of Tele-Vue <br />Systems being installed 9" from his driveway° Mr. Derick answered that this will <br />be investigated immediately. <br /> <br /> Several members of the audience cited their complaints. Mr. Derick also <br />agreed to investigate these problems. <br /> <br /> There being no further remarks from the public, it was moved by Councilman <br />Mori, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br />
