MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> June 4, 1973 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P~M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present. Mr. Edgar, <br /> City Manager, and Mr. Scheidig, City Attorney, were present. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson presented a Resolution of Commendation to Councilman Reid, for <br /> his outstanding service to the community as former Mayor. <br /> <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Edgar requested that Item 5a, Application of the Planning Commission to <br /> extend Study District Area D (Mission Park) for another 90 days pending general <br /> approval of the Preliminary General Plan, be removed from the Agenda. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Edgar requested that an item be added to the Agenda under 9b - Request of <br /> the First Baptist Church to place a sign across Main Street regarding Evangelistic <br /> Crusade~. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for May 21, 1973. <br /> <br />bo Proclaim .June 14 as Flag Day, and urge all residents of the City of display <br /> the Flag of the United States on this day° <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of the Planning. CommissiOn to extend S~dy District Area D (Mission <br />Park) for another 90 days pending general approve of the Preliminary General Plan <br /> This item was continued to the meeting of June 25, 1973. <br /> <br />Public Hearin~ on the Proposed 1973-74 Budget .fOr the City of Pleasanton <br /> Mayor Pearson declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Edgar stated that all information regarding this matter had already been <br />submitted to the City Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson asked if anyone in the audience desired to speak on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Jim Mahern, 3146 Berkshire Court, addressed the Council relative to his <br />concern regarding priorities in the City Budget, stating that he felt Park and <br />Street maintenance should be taken care of before further development of parks. <br />He cited the lack of maintenance on ths median near his home, and urged that no <br />more parks be developed until existing Parks and greenbelt areas are properly <br />maintained~ <br /> <br /> Mr, Roy Barnes, 6556 Lansing Cou~t, spoke on behalf of the Ballistic United <br />Soccer Club, urging City support of the Youth Sports Park, stating that this <br />facility served over 1,600 boys in Soccer alone, and there is a need for a place <br />for competitive sports in the community. <br /> <br /> <br />
