Fong ~egarding AB lll2 (Ralph), a Bill if allowed to pass would <br />require all employees of a particular unit to pay a "service fee" to the re- <br />cognized employee organization even though they may not wish to join that org- <br />anization or union~ The letter urged rejection of AB 1112~ <br /> <br /> The Council concurred, and Mayor Pearson signed the letter. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Scheidig presented a telegram he sent to Senator Clark Bradley urging <br />support of SB 5946 <br /> <br /> Mr. Scheidig presented information regarding a civil suit against the City <br />of Petaluma ~egarding their controlled growth ordinance. Mr. Scheidig advised <br />the Council that this matter would be placed on the Council's May 21st agenda <br />for discussion~ <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid requested that a new item be added to the agenda regarding <br />legislative information° <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Letter from DeWitt C~ Wilson~ Re: BART Appointment <br /> Mr~ Edgar presented a letter ~rom DeWitt C. Wilson, thanking the Council for <br />their support in his nomination to the BART Board. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Edgar presented a letter from Mrs. Dawn E. Rutter, 7290 Larkdale Avenue, <br />Dublin, regarding transportation needs of the Valley. This letter was referred <br />to the Transportation Committee. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Mayor Pearson reported on the Mayors' Conference held May 2, 1973. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman Herlihy commented that in determining the goals and objectives of <br />the City, every available avenue regarding additional funding from the Federal <br />and State government should be explored and considered for growth study grant. <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid suggested looking into the ICMA Model Program for additional <br />grants° <br /> <br /> Councilman Kinney commented that the Council should be looking into Federal <br />and State programs in order to Eund Pleasanton's future, since the City's <br />revenue is going to be limited~ He further stated the Council should take the <br />initiative in leadership and responsibility regarding minimum City services and <br />limited revenues! <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson p~esented a report from Bill Greene requesting Council support <br />of S.32, the National Science Policy and Priorities Act° He asked the Councilmen <br />to read the report before the next meeting and have it placed on the agenda on <br />May 21st for a decision~ <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson stated that he would be out of town Saturday morning, May 12th, <br />and that Council.man Herlihy would hold the Saturday office hours in place of the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson announced there would be a reorganization of City Council Com- <br />mittees on May 21st~ <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> No one addressed the Chair° <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Mayor Pearson recessed the meeting uo an Executive Session at 9:30 P.M., to <br />discuss appointments to a vacancy on the Park and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson reconvened the meeting at 9:45 P.M. <br /> <br /> 5o 5/7/73 <br /> <br /> <br />
