A£ter Council discussion, Mayor Pearson requested that this matter be referred <br /> to the Park and Recreation Commission for their review and recommendation at their <br /> meeting of September 26th, and then placed on the City Council agenda of October 1. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> There were no Public Hea~ings scheduled for this meeting~ <br /> <br /> MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />-- Report of the May~r~ Re: City Council Organization and Areas of Activity <br /> Mayor Pearson presented his report regarding this matter, stating that the areas <br /> of City Council activity have been divided into four categories of concern as follows: <br /> (1) Intergovernmental Relations; (2) City Commissions, City Organizations, Adminis- <br /> tration, Planning; (3) Physical Needs of the City; and (4) Human Needs of the City. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding goals and attainment. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson stated he would finalize his report, make appropriate assignments, <br /> and report back to the City Council at the next meeting~ <br /> <br /> SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> Report of the Chamber of Con~erce~ Re: Shop Pleasanton Rode.o Days <br /> Mr. Campbell presented a request from the Chamber of Commerce to close Main Street <br /> on October 11, 1973, from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M., to allow a Moonlite Sale in regard to <br /> "Shop Pleasanton Rodeo Days", and also assistance to have additional lighting on Main <br /> Street Mr. Campbell advised the lighting matter would have to be determined by PG&E. <br /> He stated that with regard to Main Street closing, this might require additional <br /> Police and Street service to control traffic and its related signing. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Michal Owens, representing the Chamber of Commerce, stated the hozse and <br /> wagon promotional ride through Pleasanton today was successful, and requested that <br /> the Fair Association be allowed to place twelve flags on Main Street in regard to <br /> this event, for' which permission was granted. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that <br /> Resolution No. 73-153, approving the closing of Main Street from the Cheese Factory <br /> to Nee1 Street on October 11, 1973, 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., and authorizing an <br /> expenditure to cove~ Police and Street services in connection with this event, be <br /> adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid suggested that all available information should be presented to <br /> the City Council before decisions of this type are determined in order that they <br /> may be decided in the best interests of the City. <br /> <br /> P__r.~ress Report #5~ Preserve Area Ridgelands Committee <br /> Mr~ Campbell presented the Progress Report of the Preserve Area Ridgelands <br /> Committee. <br /> <br /> Mts. Margaret Tracy, Chairman of the PARC, stated there will be a Public Hearing <br /> regarding this matter on October 15, 1973, 1:30 P.M~, by the Alameda County Planning <br /> Conmiss!on, and requested that the City Council take a position on this item and <br /> communicate it to the Alameda County Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson declared this item continued to the meeting of October 1, for <br /> f~r~her review. <br /> <br /> REPORFS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> Repor~ of the Plannin~ Commission~ Re: Warehouses in R.
