PUBLIC HEARINGS There were no Public Hea~ings scheduled for this meeting~ MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION -- Report of the May~r~ Re: City Council Organization and Areas of Activity Mayor Pearson presented his report regarding this matter, stating that the areas of City Council activity have been divided into four categories of concern as follows: (1) Intergovernmental Relations; (2) City Commissions, City Organizations, Adminis- tration, Planning; (3) Physical Needs of the City; and (4) Human Needs of the City. Council discussion ensued regarding goals and attainment. Mayor Pearson stated he would finalize his report, make appropriate assignments, and report back to the City Council at the next meeting~ SPECIAL REPORTS Report of the Chamber of Con~erce~ Re: Shop Pleasanton Rode.o Days Mr. Campbell presented a request from the Chamber of Commerce to close Main Street on October 11, 1973, from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M., to allow a Moonlite Sale in regard to "Shop Pleasanton Rodeo Days", and also assistance to have additional lighting on Main Street Mr. Campbell advised the lighting matter would have to be determined by PG&E. He stated that with regard to Main Street closing, this might require additional Police and Street service to control traffic and its related signing. Mrs. Michal Owens, representing the Chamber of Commerce, stated the hozse and wagon promotional ride through Pleasanton today was successful, and requested that the Fair Association be allowed to place twelve flags on Main Street in regard to this event, for' which permission was granted. It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Resolution No. 73-153, approving the closing of Main Street from the Cheese Factory to Nee1 Street on October 11, 1973, 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., and authorizing an expenditure to cove~ Police and Street services in connection with this event, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman Reid suggested that all available information should be presented to the City Council before decisions of this type are determined in order that they may be decided in the best interests of the City. P__r.~ress Report #5~ Preserve Area Ridgelands Committee Mr~ Campbell presented the Progress Report of the Preserve Area Ridgelands Committee. Mts. Margaret Tracy, Chairman of the PARC, stated there will be a Public Hearing regarding this matter on October 15, 1973, 1:30 P.M~, by the Alameda County Planning Conmiss!on, and requested that the City Council take a position on this item and communicate it to the Alameda County Planning Commission. Mayor Pearson declared this item continued to the meeting of October 1, for f~r~her review. REPORFS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS Repor~ of the Plannin~ Commission~ Re: Warehouses in R.
