MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> September 12, 1973 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P~M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present. Councilman Mori <br />was absent° Mr~ Edgar, City Manager, Mr~ Schetdig, City Attorney, Mr. Campbeli~, <br />Assistant City Manager/Director of Public Works, Mr. Harris, Senior Planner, and <br />Mr. Walker, Assistant to the City Manager, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Edgar stated that Jack Bras had requested that Item 6a - Application of the <br />Planning Commission regarding Preliminary P.U.D. Development Plan for Valley Realty, <br />be deferred until later in the meeting when he could be in attendance~ <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved: <br /> <br />a~ Approval of City Council Minutes for August 27, 1973. <br /> <br />b. Adoption of Ordinance No. 707, amending Article 5 (R-1 One Family Residential <br /> Districts); Article 6 (RMMulti-Family Residential Districts), Chapter 2 (Zon- <br /> ing), Title II (Zoning and Development) of the Ordinance Code of the City of <br /> Pleasanton relating to Prohibited Uses. <br /> <br />c, Adoption of Ordinance No. 708, amending Sections 2-5.35 and 2-5.37, A~ticle 3, <br /> Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton to require <br /> a minimum 23 ft. front setback for single family residences and a minimum 20 fro <br /> front setback for multiple residences. <br /> <br />d. Proclaim Sept. 24-30, 1973, as United Bay Area Crusade Week. <br /> <br />e. Proclaim Sept° 24-30, 1973, as California Traffic Safety Week. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, (Mori)*~ Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: *Councilman Mori was late but indicated his concurrence with the <br /> Consent Calendar <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> There were no public hearings scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Application of the Planning. Commission to amend Section 2-5.41~ .Chapter 2~ Title II <br />of the Ordinance Code of the city. of Pleasanton relating to structural projections <br />into the side yards <br /> Mz~ Edgar stated this matter had been continued from the meeting of August 27, <br />1973, at which time the public hearing was declared open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Harris presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that this <br />ordinance amendment came about because of the large number of variance applications <br />which the staff was processing through the Board of Adjustment, regarding patio <br />covers in minimum rear and side yards, and requesting that these be allowed to ex- <br />tend to within 5 ft. of a rear yard if open on three sides. Mr. Harris also pre- <br />sented a sketch showing situations where adjacent lots were of different elevations. <br /> <br /> <br />
