10! <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> November 5,1973 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to <br /> order at 8:30 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Merlihy, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present. Councilman Kinney <br />was absent. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr~ Scheidig, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, <br />Assistant City Manager/Director of Public Works, Mr. Sooby, Director of Engineering <br />Services, and Mr. Walker, Assistant to the City Manager, were present. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Reid, that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved: <br /> , <br /> <br /> a Q Approval of City Council Minutes for October 29, 1973o <br /> <br />b. Adoption of Ordinance No. 715, imposing a sales and use tax to be administered <br /> by the State Board of Equalization and providing penalties for violations. <br /> <br /> c. Adoption of Ordinance No. 716, adding Article 14 to Chapter 2 (Special Permits), <br /> Title IV (Health, Safety, Moral, and General Welfare) of the Ordinance Code of <br /> the City of Pleasanton relating to collection of effluent. <br /> <br /> d. Approval of Request for County Gas Tax funds. <br /> <br /> e. Adoption of Resolution No. 73-169, approving Progress Payment #4, to East Bay <br /> Excavating Company, Inc., for work performed during October on Project 73-1, <br /> Hopyard Road widening, in the amount of $23,806.29. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Kinney <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application fro~.Valley Bank for authorization to remove six Heritage Trees on <br />private propertX at 249 Main Street, plu~ two t.r. ees from the Bernal Avenue street <br />Right-of-Way in conjunction with develo.pment of a banking f~cility at this loca- <br />tion.; ap~ ARplication from the First National Bank of Pleasanton for authorization <br />to remove one Heritage T.ree~.. a..!~-inch diameter Locust Treet near the front of the <br />existing bank building in conjunction with the construction of a parking lot <br /> Mayor Pearson declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar stated that the First National Bank had requested withdrawal of their <br />application for removal of one Heritage Tree at 749 Main Street, per letter from <br />Warren Ro Harding, President, First National Bank, dated October 30, 1973. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sooby presented the staff report regarding removal of six Heritage Trees <br />on Valley Bank property at 249 Main Street and two trees on Bernal Avenue street <br />Right-of-Way in order to allow for the construction of a new banking facility. <br />He also displayed map showing location of the trees to be removed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Marcia Marks addressed the Council expressing her opposition to removal of <br />any Heritage Trees in the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
