Report of the Director of EngineerinS Services~. Re: Request for approval of Plans and Specifications for Bernal Avenue'~mprovements Mr~ Sooby presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that plans and specifications have now been completed for the street improvements on Bernal Avenue from Main Street to across the interim Civic Center site, and requested approval and authorization to call for bids. Councilman Herlihy requested this item be continued for one week in order to allow staff to present new designs regarding sidewalks in this area. The Council concurred. REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY Schedule Meetin~ with Le~islators Mro Edgar presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that the City Council has annually met with its legislators in Sacramento to discuss legis- lative problems and it would be appropriate for the Council to indicate the dates on which they are available for such a meeting and the items to be included on the agenda~ Mayor Mori suggested .the first week in August as the best time to meet with the legislators. COMMUNICATIONS Letter from Garry L. Tucker~ Public Affairs Chairman~ American Society of Mechani- cal En~ineers~ Re: UtilizatiOn o.f ~embership'$ .Expertise Mr. Carry L. Tucker, representing the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, addressed the Council, explaining the function of the A.S.M.E., and offering their services to the individual Council People. CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS Mayor Mori presented his report regarding City Council reorganization and areas of activity, assigning Council Members to the various committees of City interest. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS It was moved by Councilwoman LeClaire, and seconded by Councilman Philcox, commending Mayor Pro Tem Kinney, and all others involved, for their outstanding efforts in a successfull "Let the Good Times Roll" Parade on March 23, 1974. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Councilwoman LeClaire, Councilman Philcox, and Mayor Mori NOES: None ABSENT: None MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC No one addressed the Chair. EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Mori recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 10:30 P.M. Mayor Mori reconvened the meeting at 10:50 P.M. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business at 10:51 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Philcox, and seconded by Councilwoman LeClaire, that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in Study Session at 6:30 P.M., on April 1, 1974.
