Report of the Director of EngineerinS Services~. Re: Request for approval of Plans <br />and Specifications for Bernal Avenue'~mprovements <br /> Mr~ Sooby presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that plans <br />and specifications have now been completed for the street improvements on Bernal <br />Avenue from Main Street to across the interim Civic Center site, and requested <br />approval and authorization to call for bids. <br /> <br /> Councilman Herlihy requested this item be continued for one week in order to <br />allow staff to present new designs regarding sidewalks in this area. The Council <br />concurred. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Schedule Meetin~ with Le~islators <br /> Mro Edgar presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that the <br />City Council has annually met with its legislators in Sacramento to discuss legis- <br />lative problems and it would be appropriate for the Council to indicate the dates <br />on which they are available for such a meeting and the items to be included on <br />the agenda~ <br /> <br /> Mayor Mori suggested .the first week in August as the best time to meet with <br />the legislators. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Letter from Garry L. Tucker~ Public Affairs Chairman~ American Society of Mechani- <br />cal En~ineers~ Re: UtilizatiOn o.f ~embership'$ .Expertise <br /> Mr. Carry L. Tucker, representing the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, <br />addressed the Council, explaining the function of the A.S.M.E., and offering their <br />services to the individual Council People. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Mayor Mori presented his report regarding City Council reorganization and areas <br />of activity, assigning Council Members to the various committees of City interest. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> It was moved by Councilwoman LeClaire, and seconded by Councilman Philcox, <br />commending Mayor Pro Tem Kinney, and all others involved, for their outstanding <br />efforts in a successfull "Let the Good Times Roll" Parade on March 23, 1974. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Councilwoman LeClaire, Councilman Philcox, <br /> and Mayor Mori <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> No one addressed the Chair. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Mayor Mori recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 10:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mori reconvened the meeting at 10:50 P.M. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business at 10:51 P.M., it was moved by Councilman <br />Philcox, and seconded by Councilwoman LeClaire, that the meeting be adjourned to <br />meet again in Study Session at 6:30 P.M., on April 1, 1974. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Councilwoman LeClaire, Councilman Philcox, <br /> and Mayor Mori <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br />WILLIAM H~ DGAR, q~TY CLERK <br /> <br /> 4. 3/25/74 <br /> <br /> <br />
