245 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> February 25, 1974 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 PoM., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present° Mr. Edgar, <br /> City Manager, Mr~ Schetdig, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Assistant City Manager/ <br /> Director of Public Works, Mro Harris, Senior Planner, and Mr. Dutchover, Engineer- <br /> ing Department, were present° <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson introduced the Boy Scouts attending the City Council meeting in <br /> honor of Boy Scout Week in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr~ Edgar requested that two items be added under Reports of the City Manager <br /> as follows: 9(b) Progress Report Re: Gasoline Shortage; and 9(c) Approval of Letter <br /> to V.C.S.D. regarding problems related to rental of excess capacity at the District <br /> Plant. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for February 11, 1974. <br /> <br />b. Proclaim February 25, 1974, as Boy Scout Involvement Week in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> c. Adoption of Resolution No. 74-26, approving Progress Payment No. 2 to Oliver <br /> DeSilva, Inc., for balance of work on Hopyard Road and Santa Rita Road Over- <br /> lay Projects, Project 73-6, in the amount of $2,732.91, and acceptance of work <br /> performed. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> There were no Public Hearings scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Adoption of Ordinance No.~ 721~ establtshin~ lowered speed limits on Hopyard Road <br /> Mr. Edgar stated this Ordinance was introduced on February llth by a 3-1 vote, <br />and that it is now in order to adopt the Ordinance. <br /> <br /> Victor Bailey, 4565 Black Avenue, addressed the City Council regarding getting <br />children sa£ely across Hopyard Road to the Little League Park. He suggested either <br />a bridge or subway', and displayed a drawing of a bridge he felt would eliminate the <br />hazardous condition. <br /> <br /> Don Paukert, 3971 Empire Court, stated there needed to be some relief on the <br />hazardous traffic condition at the intersections of Stoneridge, Inglewood and Las <br />Positas onto Hopyard Road. <br /> <br /> Dr. Robert Cassidy, 4669 Cope Court, representing Pl~asanton American Little <br />League, stated the Little League Board had voted unanimously on a resolution in <br />favor of a pedestrian-automobile tripper light at the entrance to the Little League <br />Park to insure the safety of children at all times of the day. He further stated <br />the Board felt that the money expended for a traffic control officer would be <br />better utilized on a signal light as a permanent solution to this problem. <br /> <br /> <br />
