<br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG
<br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at
<br /> 8:00 P~M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flago
<br />
<br /> ROLL CALL
<br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows:
<br /> Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, and Mayor Pearson were present~ Councilman Reid
<br /> was absent. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Scheidig, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell,
<br /> Assistant City Manager/Director of Public Works, Mr. Sooby, Director of Engineering
<br /> Services, and Mr. Lamb, Traffic Engineer, were present°
<br />
<br /> AGENDAAMENDMENTS
<br /> Mr. Edgar requested that an item be added to the Consent Calendar - Acceptance
<br /> of Grant Deed from Frank J. Straface, etal, to City.
<br />
<br /> Mayor Pearson requested that an item be added to the Consent Calendar - Proclaim-
<br /> ing the Week of February 24, 1974, through March 3, 1974, as KQED Week in the City of
<br /> Pleasanton.
<br />
<br /> CONSENT CALENDAR
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that the
<br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved as amended:

<br /> a. Approval of City Council Minutes for February 4, 1974.
<br />
<br /> bo Adoption of Resolution No, 74-21, approving Claims for the month of January,
<br /> 1974, in the amount of $320,509.07.
<br />
<br /> c~ Acceptance of Grant Deed from Frank Jo Straface and Linda Lo Straface, Henry J.
<br /> Cupples, Jr., and Alice Hc Cupples, and Ralph L. Martin, and Blue Lake Enter-
<br /> prises, to make certain dedication of real property to the City°
<br />
<br /> d. Proclaim February 24, 1974, through March 3, 1974, as KQED Week in the City of
<br /> Pleasanton.
<br />
<br /> The roll call vote was as follows:
<br /> AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, and Mayor Pearson
<br /> NOES: None

<br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS
<br /> ~pplication of the City Council to de-energize street lights in the Valley Trails,
<br /> Val Vista~ and Hopyard Road Area (Continued from 2-4-74)
<br /> This public hearing was continued from the meeting of February 4, 1974.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Edgar stated that the City Council had requested the public hearing and the
<br /> staff had prepared considerable amount of material in an attempt to find ways to
<br /> conserve energy. He further stated that street lights were the major user of energy
<br /> and surveys were being conducted in an effort to see where street lights could be
<br />..... de-energized. Mr. Edgar stated there is now some confusion in the PUC order, and
<br /> he read a letter dated Feb~uary 7, 1974, from John Stanley, PG&E. Mr. Edgar re-
<br /> quested this matter be deferred pending clarification from PUC, that the staff be
<br /> authorized to write PUC regarding clarification of their order, and that staff
<br /> continue to complete the stree~ light survey~
<br />
<br /> Mr. Norm Graville, 7381 Jaybrook Court, representing Vintage Hills, Valley
<br /> Trails, Val Vista, and Stoneridge Homeowners Associations, stated these four groups
<br /> were opposed to de-energizing of street lights.
