MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Mrs. Margaret Tracy, 1262 Madison Avenue, Livemore, representing Preserve Area
Ridgelands Committee, addressed the City Council expressing concern of preservation
of the ridge area, and questioned the City's policy regarding approval of a private
sewage treatment plant for Appereon's Guest Ranch. She read a statement from Con-
gressman Pete Stark, dictated on the phone on January 14, 1974, regarding prepara-
tion of a Bill for preservation of the East Bay Ridgelands as urban park, wilderness
or agricultural areas.

Councilman Reid stated the City Council is concerned with the preservation of
the ridgelands but he felt the Apperson proposal was not inconsistent with the open
space concept.

Councilman Mori stated that one of the most flagrant violations of natural re-
sources is in public parks and if we are going to preserve open space it must be
done on a private basis.

Councilman Herlihy stated the abuse of public parks was caused by increased
population and there is a need to preserve some of the open space that will be
accessible to public for their use on a private basis.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Pearson recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 10:38 P.M.

Mayor Pearson reconvened the meeting at 10:35 P.M.

It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Resolu-
tion Noo 74-11, reappointing John F. Hansen to a four year term on the Pleasanton
Housing Authority, said term to expire January 25, 1978, be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business at 10:38 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Mori,
and seconded by Councilman Reid, that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in
Adjourned Regular SesSion at 8:00 P.M., on January 21, 1974.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Respectfully Submitted,

8. 1/14/74
