Mayor Mori declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilwoman <br />LeClaire, that Resolution No. 74-154, denying the appeal of Jerry and Janet Willjams, <br />4038 Nevis Street, from the Planning Commission decision approving a Variance for <br />Richard Guasco from the requirements of See. 2-5.35, Art. 3, Chapt. 2, Title II of <br />the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton, to allow the construction of a home <br />addition which would encroach into the required rear yard of property located at <br />4039 Graham Street, zoning for the property being R-1-6500, and setting forth the <br />reasons for this action, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilman Kinney, Councilwoman LeClaire, and Mayor Mori <br />NOES: Councilman Herlihy <br />ABSENT: Councilman Philcox <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Further Reports Re.~. BART Routes <br /> Mr. Walker reviewed the seven alternate routes, then presented mini-bus system <br />routes for Alternates 3, 4, and 5 Routes. <br /> <br /> Mr. Arthur Nyheim, 8169 Arroyo Drive, #4, (representing Leguna Vista Estates) <br />presented a petition r~questing to be included in BART Bus Route stop. <br /> <br /> Mr. Howard Goods, BART representative, answered questions regarding the BART <br />system and stated there was urgency in determining the route so that schedules <br />could be worked out. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy to approve Alternate Route 5 as the basic <br />route, and Alternate Route 3 as the peak route. <br /> <br /> This motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilwoman LeClaire, that <br />Alternate Route 5 be used as both basic and peak route, and that for peak hours a <br />route be established to start at Sunol Boulevard, up First Street to Stanley Boule- <br />vard to Santa Rite Road and Valley Avenue on to Hopyard Road. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Councilwoman LeClaire, and Mayor Mort <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Philcox <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar stated that the City had recently opposed a proposed Greyhound route <br />on Santa Rite Road in order to keep heavy traffic off this street. It was the con- <br />sensus of the City Council to withdraw this opposition, and instructed the City <br />Manager to write the Public Utilities Commission advising them that the City would <br />be in favor of the new route since it would be serving the Santa Rite Rehabilita- <br />tion Center. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> No one addressed the Chair. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mori recessed the meeting at 10:15 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mori reconvened the meeting at 10:20 P.M. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />Presentation by Councilman Herlihy Re: County Service Area in Castro Valley <br /> Councilman Herlihy presented a proposal by Supervisor Fred Cooper to form a <br />County Service Area in Castro Valley, and stated that the taxes paid by Pleasan- <br />ton residents to the County for County Services includes police service to all <br />unincorporated areas, including Dublin and Castro Valley. Since these particular <br />areas were developed around the City concept it would seem appropriate that those <br />areas that require "concentrated services" should provide financial support for <br />specific services. <br /> <br /> 3. 7/22/74 <br /> <br /> <br />
