3,95 <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar presented two letters from KNBR (Isabelle Lemon and William Dwyer), ex- <br /> pressing appreciation to the City of Pleasanton regarding the Good Times Parade held on <br /> May 3, 1975o <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar presented a c~mmunication from V~C.S.D~ to State Water Resources Control <br /> Board dated May 6, 1975, regarding thei~ position on spheres of influence as well as <br /> sewage treatment. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> Or.al Rep~rt~ ~e: ~..,C~ Bri.ef supporting Stat~ of California against the Sierra Club <br /> in the matter of the Widening of 1-580 <br /> Mr. Scheidig stated there was no new information regarding 1-580, but he expected <br /> to hear something later in the week~ <br /> <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications pre~ented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilman McLain reported on the COVA meeting of May 8, 1975. He stated the report <br />on Livermore Airport was postponed until it was presented to the Livermore City Council. <br />Discussion ensued regarding matters ~f land use being considered by COVA. Council con- <br />curred to send a lette~ t~ COVA reAte~ating Pleasanton's position statement regarding <br />COVA. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney reported on ~heMayors' Confez'ence meeting of May 7, 1975, at which time <br />they discussed curbside mail boxes, gas tax formula, and Summer Jobs for Youth sponsored <br />by the National Alliance of Businessmen. Mayor Kinney stated the City of Pleasanton would <br />not participate in NAB's program this year~ <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman McLain requested a maintenance schedule and policy regarding median strips <br /> in the Fairlands Subdivision~ <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember McLain, and seconded by Councilmember LeClaire, that <br />Resolution No. 75-103, appointing Kenneth Scheidig, City Attorney, as "Consultant for <br />World ~ffairs in Sacramento", be adopted~ <br />The roll call vote was as £oliows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Council concurred to support SB-2220, a bill regarding dump site locations, and <br />instructed the City Attorney to advise the appropriate legislators of this support. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: Appointments <br /> Mayor Kinney recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 10:50 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney reconvened the meeting at ]0:55 P.M. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Herlihy, and seconded by Councilmember Philcox, that <br />Resolution No~ 75-104, appointing David C. Shepherd as a member of the Planning Com- <br />mission, to fill the unexpired term of Roger McLain, said term to expire May 5, 1978, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business at 11:00 P.M., it was moved by Councilwoman <br />LeClaire, and seconded by Councilman Hezllihy, that the meeting be adjourned to <br />meet again in Adjourned Regular Session at 8:00 P~M., on May 19, 1975. <br /> <br /> 5/12/75 <br /> <br /> <br />
