LES~ RE: SUPPORT OF ACTEB PROGRAM <br /> Mr. Robert Sandles, Bob's Machine Shop, 4187 First Street, Livermore, presented <br />a vocational training program for machinists for which he is attempting to secure <br />Federal funds (ACTEB) to support. This item is for the information of the Council. <br />Councilwoman LeClaire explained that eight applications have been received by ACTEB <br />from the Valley and that each will have to be considered before support can be <br />given to any individual program. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilman Herlihy reported on a Special COVA Meeting on April 24, 1975, re- <br />garding BART bus and rail service to the Valley, which he, Councilman Philcox and <br />Councilman McLain artended. He requested that Mr. Edgar and Mr. Parness, City <br />Manager of Livermore, schedule a meeting to discuss a policy letter to be sent <br />to BART regarding better feeder bus system in the Valley until rail service is <br />established and insuring that the Valley receive rail service before other areas <br />are serviced. The Council concurred. <br /> <br /> Councilwoman LeClaire reported on the Community Concerns Committee meeting <br />of April 24, 1975. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilwoman LeClaire, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, <br />that Resolution No. 75-93, appointing Sam Roberson as Vice-Chairman of the <br />Community Concerns Committee, to replace Richard Pearson due to his resignation, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilwoman LeClaire reported on the Park and Recreation Commission meeting <br />of April 23, 1975, stating that their goals and objectives report was not com- <br />pleted but would be soon, and that the report regarding name change of Century <br />Park would be before the City Council on May 12, 1975. <br /> <br /> Councilwoman LeClaire stated that an Alternate should be designated to <br />represent the City on ACAP/ACTEB. Mayor Kinney was selected as the Alternate <br />to Councilwoman LeClaire on this Board. <br /> <br /> Councilman Philcox reported on the LAVWMA meeting of April 16, 1975, at <br />which time Lila Euler was elected Chairman. He stated there would be a work- <br />shop onMay 15, 1975. <br /> <br /> Councilman Philcox stated the Chamber of Commerce is taking an active part <br />in City affairs such as sewer, industrial expansion, etc. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney reported that the Mayors of Alameda County had met at 7:00 A.M. <br />this date to discuss Malpractice Insurance, allocation of Criminal Justice <br />Planning money, and the placement of Vietnam refugees. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman McLain asked about the feasibility of hiring local labor for local <br />public works projects.
