3:10 <br /> <br /> Mr~ Mike Hemp, 7551 Driftwood Way, requested that the City Council give the <br />public opportunity to talk to Roger McLain and Ken Mercer, then express their <br />views on each candidate~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Jordan, 7218 Stonedale Drive, recommended selection be made from <br />candidates ef the previous election, and urged careful consideration of the <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Council concurred to review this matter further, and possibly make a <br />selection at the meeting of March 24, 1975. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of the Planning Ccmmission for an amendment to Section 2-7.21(1)~ <br />Article 9~ Chapter 2~ Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton <br />to allow nurseries as a conditional use in the I-P (Industrial Park) District <br /> Mr. Harris presented the staff report dated March 6, 1975, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larry Billings, owner of Casa Verde Garden Center, urged approval of the <br />amendment, as it affected his business~ <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilwoman LeClaire, <br />that Ordinance No~ 755, to be read by title only and waiving further reading <br />thereof, amending Section 2-7.21(1), Article 9, Chapter 2, Title II of the <br />Ordinance Code o£ the City o£ Pleasanton, to allow nurseries as a conditional <br />use in the I-P (Industrial Park) District, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilman Herlihy, Councilwoman LeClaire, Councilman Philcox, and <br /> Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Appeal of Pettibone Signs for Valley Realty from an adverse decision of the <br />Board of Adjustment in den~in~ ~pplication for a variance from the requirements <br />of Section 2-9~43(a)~ Article 18~ Chapter 2~ Title II of the Ordinance Code of <br />the City of Pleasanton~ to allow the installation of a freestanding sign on a <br />C-N (Neighborhood Commercial) zoned parcel less than 3 acres in size. Said <br />parcel is located on the north si~e of Valley Avenue approx. 250 feet west of <br />Santa Rita Road (Contd. Open from 2-10-75 and 2-24-75) <br /> Mr. Harris presented the staff report dated February 19, 1975, regarding this <br />matter, and displayed a drawing explaining the overall signing program for the <br />Valley Plaza Shopping Centers <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hank Cupples, rep=esenting Valley Plaza, stated he felt it was unreason- <br />able to deny a sign because of the lettering on the sign, and urged approval of <br />this appeal. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Council- <br />woman LeC!aire, that Resolution No. 75-52, denying the appeal of Pettibone Signs <br />for Valley Realty £rom an adverse decision of the Board of Adjustment in denying <br />application for a variance from the requirements of Section 2-9.43(a), Article 18, <br />Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton, to allow the <br />installation of a freestanding sign on a C-N (Neighborhood Commercial) zoned par- <br />cel less than 3 acres in size~ ~aid parcel is located on the north side of Valley <br />Avenue approx. 250 feet west of Santa Rita Road, be adopted on the basis that the <br />necessary findings justifying a variance cannot be made. <br /> <br /> 3. 3/10/75 <br /> <br /> <br />
