Bowling stated that a public hearing date should be established to permit <br /> the community to respond to the draft Environmental Impact Report and the draft <br /> Management Plan, and suggested October 28, 1975, as the public hearing time in <br /> order to get comments to the Board of Supervisors before they make a decision on <br /> this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Harris reviewed his report dated October 7, 1975, explaining the changes <br /> recommended in the reports. He also reviewed Sections 1 and 8 of the Solid Waste <br /> Management Plane <br /> <br /> After discussion, Mayor Kinney declared the public hearing set for October 28, <br /> 1975, 8:00 P.M., Pleasanton Justice Court, regarding comments related to the pro- <br /> posed Alameda County Solid Waste Management Plan and draft Environmental Impact <br /> Report. <br /> <br /> .Report~ Re: Amb.Ula~C~e SerVice <br /> Mayor Kinney declared this item withdrawn from the agenda at the request of <br /> staff~ <br /> <br /> Repo~t, Re: Traffic Matters <br /> (1) Councilmember Herlihy's Proposal for relief of Traffi9 Con.~estion in the <br /> Central Business District <br /> Mr~ Seeby presented his report dated October 8, 1975, regarding this matter, <br /> which recommends the suggestions of Councilmember Herlihy not be put into effect <br /> at this time. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lamb elaborated further on Councilmember Herlihy's proposal, stating <br /> that he felt the recommendations would add to the traffic congestion rather than <br /> decrease it~ <br /> <br /> Councilmember Herlihy requested staff to offer alternate suggestions to <br /> alleviate the traffic problems in the Central Business District until such time <br /> as signals are installed on Main Street° <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding various possible solutions to traffic <br /> congestion, and it was determined that staff would continue working on traffic <br /> problems ;on an dn-going basis and in a~positive manner. <br /> <br /> It was concluded not to initiate Councilmember Herlihy's proposal for relief <br /> of tra£fic congestion in the Central Business District at this time. <br /> <br /> (2) Councilmember Philcox's Proposal for Pedestrian Crosswalk between Pleasanton <br /> Hot_______e~..~n~ Cheese Factory <br /> Mr. Seeby presented his report dated October 8, 1975, regarding this matter, <br /> which recommends not installing the proposed crosswalk between the Pleasanton <br /> Hotel and the Cheese Factory. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Lamb presented background information related to crosswalks in the City, <br /> and stated a crosswalk at this particular location would be counterproductive to <br /> pedest~'iam. safety in this area. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Philcox stated his proposal was suggested out of frustration, <br /> and that he had no further recommendation~ <br /> <br /> 5o 10/13/75 <br /> <br /> <br />
