Due to a request by <br />the applicant, Mr. Gomez who is on vacation, this matter will be continued <br />to the next regular meeting oE the City Council to be held on April 26, 1976, <br />8:00 P.M., at 30 West Angela Street, Pleasanton, California. <br /> <br />Hearing of objections by property owners to the proposed removal and abate- <br />ment of nuisance caused by noxious or dangerous weeds growing upon or in <br />front of property owned by .th~.m in the City of Pleasanton <br /> Mr. Scheidig presented his report on this matter, stating that the <br />Council set this date for public hearing and protest with respect to the <br />1976 Weed Abatement List. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember LeClaire, and seconded by Councilmember <br />Mercer, that Resolution No. 76-77, overruling objections and authorizing the <br />appropriate staff members to proceed with the abatement of the nuisance caused <br />by noxious or dangerous weeds growing on certain properties in the City of <br />Pleasanton, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Appeal of Harold Johnson to a decision of the Planning Commission denyin~ <br />an app. lication to extend a home occupation permit for the purpose. of <br />repairing television sets at a residence located at 2609 Corte Elena, <br />zoning for the property is R-1-6500 District <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated April 7, 1976 and gave background <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Johnson, applicant, stated that he has talked to several neighbors, <br />none of whom object to his use. His business is conducted entirely indoors <br />and asked for an extension of six months. He further stated that he had <br />hoped for a year's permit when this was first granted, feeling that six <br />months would not be adequate to get his business started. <br /> <br /> The Council asked if the applicant had definite plans to go into <br />business commercially and could the applicant give assurance that this <br />would be his final request for a time extension. <br /> <br /> Mr. Johnson indicated that it would be the last request for an extension. <br /> As no one else wished to speak, the public hearing was closed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer felt there had been no change in the character of <br />the neighborhood in the last six months and would probably not be in the <br />next, and as there have been no complaints from the neighbors, he moved, <br />and Councilmember LeClaire seconded, adoption of a resolution approving this <br />extension, subject to the conditions listed in the staff report. <br /> <br /> -2- 4-12-76 <br /> <br /> <br />
