MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> January 12, 1976 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Edward Kinney called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P.M0, and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmembers Herlihy, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney were present. Council- <br /> member LeClatre was absent. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Levine, Deputy City <br /> Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Assistant CityManager/Director of Public Works, Mr. <br /> Harris, Director of Planning, Mr. Sooby, Director of Engineering Services, Mr. <br /> Miller, Assistant to the City Manager, Mr. McCloud, Acting Director of Public <br /> Safety, and Mr. Cherry, Fire Division Administration, were present. <br /> <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> There were no agenda amendments presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilmember McLain, and seconded by Councilmember Herlthy, <br /> that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved: <br /> <br /> a. Approval of City Council Minutes for December 15 and 30, 1975. <br /> <br />b. Adoption of Resolution No. 76-1, approv~ng Agreement between City and Traffic <br /> Signal Maintenance Co., Inc., for maintenance of traffic signals. <br /> <br /> c. Adoption of Resolution No. 76-2, approving authorization to apply for ACAP <br /> Grant for Summer Youth Program. <br /> <br />d. Adoption of Resolution No. 76-3, approving authorization to apply for ACAP <br /> Grant.for On-going Recreation Programs. <br /> <br /> e. Adoption of Resolution No. 76-4, approving Training Agreement No. 185 between <br /> City and State of California Department of Highway Patrol. <br /> <br />f. Adoption of Resolution No. 76-5, approving amendment to Comprehensive Employ- <br /> ment and Training Act (CETA) Contract with Alameda County. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Berlihy, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember LeClaire <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney abstained from voting on the Minutes of December 30, 1975, due <br />to his absence at said meeting. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />keques~'Uf Chris Beratliss 425 Main Street.I' for authorization to remove a Heritage <br />Tree, ~ 16-inch diameter Acacia Treel .f~om the north side of.AngelS. Street~ approxi- <br />mately 125 feet west of Main streW.%, to. a~lOw ~nstr~C[~ion of access...t9. t~e parking <br />~ot for a new commerc~.~l buildin~ to be constructed <br /> Mr. Sooby presented his staff report dated January 6, 1976, regarding khis matter <br />and displayed map showing location of the tree to be removed. <br /> <br /> Mayor Kinney declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Chris Beratlis, 425 Main Street, spoke in favor of removal of the Heritage Tree. <br /> <br /> <br />
