In addition to creating additional hazardous traffic situations <br /> (see attached CHP and Pleasanton accident statist~.cs), it will diminish the <br /> unique living experience that our present zoning allows. Please help us to <br /> maintain and protect a disappearing lifestyle, for not only the many, many older <br /> citizens of Stanley, but also the younger families that have moved there to <br /> offer 'alternate lifestyle' experiences to their children through gardening, <br /> orchards, livestock and country living." <br /> <br /> bEyor Philcox abstained from participating in this matter. <br /> <br /> The Vice ~yor proceeded to Chair this portion of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Joseph l,~dden, 3851 Vineyard Avenue, owner of the property in question, <br /> presented a map showing location of the proposed recreational vehicle storage <br /> yard development and gave a brief history of the background and zoning on the <br /> property. <br /> <br /> Earl Augusta, 3963 Stanley Boulevard, stated he was opposed to the rezoning <br />and commercial development of the subject property. <br /> <br /> Council expressed concern regarding this proposed rezoning and its affect <br />upon the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Mr. Madden stated he was willing to ask for a continuance on his applica- <br />tion for further study of this matter by the Pleasanton Planning Commission <br />and City Council, and would not oppose annexation of his property to the City <br />so that development could occur under City standards. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Mercer, that staff be authorized to request the Alameda County <br />Planning Commission to continue the matter of Joe Madden's application for <br />rezoning on Stanley Boulevard for thirty days to allow the City time to review <br />the design of the development; to ask that the Planning staff and Planning <br />Commission review the design of the proposed development and forward their <br />comments to the City Council at an early date; and to investigate the possi- <br />bility of annexing the subject property to the City. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, Mercer, and Vice Mayor LeClaire <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAINED:Mayor Philcox <br /> <br /> Vice -~yor LeCiaire returned control of the meeting to }~yor Philcox. <br /> <br />PUBLIC I[KA3.
