Sunol Boulevard is the main access
road into the City from the south; as such it carries an average of 300 gravel
trucks per day, many travelling at excessive speed. The section from Arlington
to Sonoma is narrow and on a hill which restricts visibility. Many children like
to walk or bicycle into Pleasanton, therefore in the interests of safety we urge
you to construct a path as soon as possible". Council stated there would be
public hearings on bike paths by the Planning Commission and the City Council
early in 1978, and advised Mrs. Pearson that she would be notified when these
hearings were scheduled, at which time the Sunol Boulevard bike path would be
discussed.

Ms. Sylvia Geller, Express Liquors, 4363 First Street, stated that in response
to recent controversy regarding reading materials in her store she had placed Adult
magazines in another section of the store and marked them as Adult Material, and
that they were covered. She stated she only allowed two children at a time in the
store and that they were watched. She further stated that she felt people were
entitled to read what they wanted to and that she was complying with City desires
in placing this material out of sight of children.

~,~s. Sandra Cherry, 4149 Moselle, presented two books to Council which were
purchased at Express Liquors and which she felt were pornographic.

M~. Ray Andersen, 1730 Beachwood, spoke in opposition to Adult magazines being
displayed in stores and urged Council to initiate an ordinance to control or regu-
late this matter.

2. 12/13/77
