Mr. Brown presented the Information Report of the Chief Building Inspector <br />dated May 19, 1978, regarding Building Permits for April, 1978. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brown presented the Information Report of the Assistant to the City <br />Manager-Walker, dated May 18, 1978, regarding Estimated Effect on Pleasanton <br />Homeowners Tax Bill if Proposition 8 is approved by Voters. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Claim of Lorraine Miller vs. Cit7 of Pleasanton (1-9-78) <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated May 14, 1978, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart, <br />that the claim o~ Lorraine Miller be denied and this matter be referred to the <br />City Attorney's office for handling in conjunction with the City's insurance <br />carrier. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Zrandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br /> , <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />CitX ~tt.orney's. Monthly Report <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated May 18, 1978, regarding this matter <br />for the information of the Council. <br /> <br /> Discussion ensued regarding newspaper service being continued during cus- <br />tomer's vacation and the responsibility of the carrier and newspaper. Council <br />instructed the City Attorney to write letters to the local publishers reminding <br />them that their delivery people should not leave newspapers if to do so would <br />indicate that the residence is empty or that the residents are on vacation. <br /> <br /> Council also instructed the City Attorney to continue to send letters re- <br />garding pending legislation as is appropriate. <br /> <br />Legislation: Governor's Urban Strategy <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated May 19, 1978, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brown urged support of the League of California Cities recommendations. <br />After discussion, Council took no action on this item and continued the matter <br />to the next meeting. <br /> <br />CO~2{UNICATIONS <br /> There were no communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL CO}MITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer reported on the meeting with the Warden of the Federal Prison <br />facility at Santa Rite regarding concerns of the Council as to policy changes <br />at this facility.
