MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL May 16, 1978 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL The roll call is recorded as follows: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Wood, and ~yor Mercer were present. Councilmember Kephart was absent. Mr. Brown, CityManager, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works and Utilities, and Mr. Walker, Assistant to the City Manager, were present. INTERVIEWS FOR HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD COmmISSIONER City Council conducted interviews for the one vacancy on the Housing Authority Board. The following persons were interviewed: Olga Morrow Pat Geary Jim Garrett Howard Neely Allen Schuh It was determined by Council to select the Commissioner by bali[or Vote. The first ballot was as follows: Pat Geary 1 vote Howard Neely 1 vote Allen Schuh 1 vote Olga Morrow 1 vote The second ballot was as follows: Howard Neely 2 votes Jim Garrett 1 vote Pat Geary 1 vote After discussion, Council determined to continue the balloting for the Housing Authority Board Commissioner until the meeting of May 23, 1978. DISCUSSION REGAP~ING CITY COUNCIL SUB-CO~,IITTEE STUDY ON HOUSING AUTHORITY OPERATION Mrs. Christine Pearson, Chairperson of the Housing Authority Board, addressed the Council regarding the Board's desire to have a parcourse in Kottinger Park. She also indicated the concern of the Housing Authority Board and staff regarding criticism of the 1Ionsing Authority Board, staff and operations, and asked how the Council Sub-committee planned to proceed.
