Councilman Butler inquired about the large decrease in capital expenses. <br /> Mr. Walker explained that capital expenses vary from year to year; a one-time <br /> item purchased this year will not be purchased next year, etc. <br /> <br /> Councilman Kephart asked if the $1,250.00 for security and traffic control <br /> at Little League games could be handled by reserves. Chief McCloud explained, <br /> and stated he would report back in fuller detail on this item. <br /> <br /> Councilman Brandes inquired as to the revenue received from dog licenses <br /> for this year. Mr. Walker responded. ~r. Brown stated that staff would be <br /> developing a program to get more dog licenses. <br /> <br /> Councilmen Kephart and Brandes had questions regarding personnel and work <br />load. Councilman Brandes asked if the lieutenants positions added this year <br />had freed the sergeants for field work. Chief McCloud stated that it had and <br />explained how. Council requested a progress report on this matter at the end <br />of six months. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer asked Councilman Kephart if he was still interested in the <br />P.O.S.T. general survey. Councilman Kephart stated that he was and explained <br />the reasons. Councilman Brandes stated he supported a general survey of the <br />Police Department. Mr. Brown stated the City would make application to P.O.S.T. <br />for a division-by-division survey of operations. <br /> <br /> Councilman Butler inquired about the level of expenditures for traffic and <br />asked if they should be higher. <br /> <br /> After various questions and general discussion, Council made no changes in <br />the Police Department budget at this time. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business at 12:45 A.M., Mayor Mercer adjourned the <br />meeting, to meet again in Budget Session on May 2, 1978, 7:30 P.M., in the <br />Pleasanton Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br />CLAYTON E~B/ROWN, CITY CLERK <br /> <br /> 3. 5/1/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
