361 <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer asked the City Attorney if Mr. Butler would lose his seat on <br />the Planning Commission. Mr. Levine advised that Mr. Butler would lose his <br />seat on the Planning Commission as a result of the appointment to City Council. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, <br />that Resolution No. 78-76, resolving that the City hold an election on the <br />November Ballot for the selection of a fifth member on the City Council, be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Kephart <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer encouraged all persons who had applied for Council positions <br />to apply for current Commission vacancies. <br /> <br />INSTALLATION OF NEWLY-APPOINTED COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> Mr. Brown administered the Oath of Office to and installed Robert E. Butler <br />as a Councilmember of the City of Pleasanton for a term to expire at the <br />November election. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler thanked the City Council for this appointment and <br />stated he felt it was very important that Council took action. <br /> <br />DUBLIN UNITED PARCEL OFFICE <br /> Councilmember Wood stated he felt Council should urge the UPS not to close <br />their Dublin facility. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Brandes, that the Mayor be authorized to send a communication <br />to the United Parcel Service, urging them not to close their Dublin office, <br />for the convenience of the Valley residents. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business at 5:55 P.M., Mayor Mercer adjourned the <br />meeting, to meet again in Budget Session on April 20, 1978, 7:30 P.M., in the <br />Pleasanton Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> 2. 4/14/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
