361 Mayor Mercer asked the City Attorney if Mr. Butler would lose his seat on the Planning Commission. Mr. Levine advised that Mr. Butler would lose his seat on the Planning Commission as a result of the appointment to City Council. It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that Resolution No. 78-76, resolving that the City hold an election on the November Ballot for the selection of a fifth member on the City Council, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Wood, and Mayor Mercer NOES: Councilmember Kephart ABSENT: None Mayor Mercer encouraged all persons who had applied for Council positions to apply for current Commission vacancies. INSTALLATION OF NEWLY-APPOINTED COUNCIL MEMBER Mr. Brown administered the Oath of Office to and installed Robert E. Butler as a Councilmember of the City of Pleasanton for a term to expire at the November election. Councilmember Butler thanked the City Council for this appointment and stated he felt it was very important that Council took action. DUBLIN UNITED PARCEL OFFICE Councilmember Wood stated he felt Council should urge the UPS not to close their Dublin facility. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that the Mayor be authorized to send a communication to the United Parcel Service, urging them not to close their Dublin office, for the convenience of the Valley residents. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer NOES: None ABSENT: None ADJOURNMENT There being no further business at 5:55 P.M., Mayor Mercer adjourned the meeting, to meet again in Budget Session on April 20, 1978, 7:30 P.M., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers.
