After considerable discussion, Council concurred to publicly select up to a <br />maximum of six names each to be further considered for the vacant City Council <br />seat, the City Manager write these endorsements on the blackboard and that Council <br />would interview those persons receiving two or more votes. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes endorsed the following persons for consideration: <br />Butler, Geary, Grossman, Maines, Pryor and Scott. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart endorsed the following persons for consideration: <br />Alves, Butler, Grossman, Maines, Pryor and Scott. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood endorsed the following persons for consideration: Alves, <br />Butler, Garrett, Geary, Pearson and Scott. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer endorsed the following persons for consideration: Alves, Butler, <br />Geary, Neely and Scott. <br /> <br /> After tabulation, Mayor Mercer declared the following persons would be inter- <br />viewed for the vacant City Council seat: Butler (4), Scott (4), Alves (3), <br />Geary (3), Grossman (2), Maines (2), and Pryor (2). <br /> <br /> Council determined that interviews should be held as soon as possible. The <br />following schedule was established. <br /> <br /> Friday, April 7, 1978 at Pleasanton Council Chambers. <br /> 7:00 P.M. Ed Alves <br /> 7:20 P.M. Bob Butler <br /> 7:40 P.M. - Pat Geary <br /> 8:00 P.M. - Alan Grossman <br /> 8:20 P.M. Gilbert Maines <br /> 8:40 P.M. Kent Pryor <br /> 9:00 P.M. Susan Scott <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes suggested that if any candidate desired to furnish <br />additional information about themse].ves, to present it to the City Manager, who <br />would in turn pass it on to the City Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer emphasized that the public is invited to be present at these <br />interviews. <br /> <br />Opposition to Jarvis-Gann Initiative <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, <br />that the City Council of the City of Pleasanton go on record in opposition to <br />proposition 13 - Jarvis-Gann Initiative. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Kephart, Wood and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Removal of Tree on Peters Avenue <br /> Mr. Brown stated that a large tree on Peters Avenue would have to be removed <br />for the widening of this street. He presented a letter from Harris Realty Company <br />offering to pay for removal of this tree in order for them to move the house on <br />Rose Avenue recently purchased by them. Mr. Brown stated the cost would be <br />approximately $1,800.00, and this money could be used for trees or planters on <br />Main Street. <br /> <br /> 3. 4/4/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
